California Is it true that California state dont don't sponsor visa for IMG?

Hi
I m not sure how competitive it is applying for residency slot in California state, My school does fall in the Calif. Medical board but I am not sure whether it make any difference for them on the candidate resident status I mean those who require visa sponsorship and those who is US citizen/Permanent resident IMG
are both eligible to apply for residency or only US citizen IMG

There is no legal rule that says California programs cannot sponsor visa but the reality is that it's extremely difficult to find such programs because most of the California programs are highly demanded by American Grads and since American Grads are always preferred over IMGs therefore it's very difficult.

In fact, I am not aware of any residency program in California that have sponsored IMGs for visa for residency.

How about IMG that have a Green Card? Will they have a chance of getting a residency spot in California?

Certainly better chances than those looking for Visa but still quite difficult, but not impossible.

how often first time applicants are accepted into residency. Or every one is looking for atleast in second or third attempt.
Also Is n't it waiting to be selected on annual residency position generate gaps in your medical graduation which many PD doesn't like someone with more then 5 years gap. Even you have cleared all steps exams years ago.

Dear Shima
I have not taken any steps yet but in the process of step 1. Let suppose I am expecting a score of rang 220-240 around with MPH and bit field research experience with good US Phys LOR. Any good chance to expect in applying for Sept 2014 application.
