Although I've never heard of 2015 Watershed term before but I can speculate that people are thinking that the 2015 match will be a watershed area between the 2014 match (where IMGs can get matched) and the 2016 match (where IMGs cannot get matched).

The rumors and speculations are based on the fact that there are more and more US Medical Graduates yet the number of residency positions is fixed or at least is not increasing at the same rate of increase in US medical graduates and since USMGs are always preferred over IMGs thence there will be no positions offered for IMGs starting in the match 2015 or match 2016.

Sabio argued against that in his article here
No More IMGs in the Future; Is It True?

His thoughts in that article has been validated by this fact here
http://www.usmle-forums.com/usmle-ne...ch-2013-a.html

However, some members have said that Sabio is wrong as you can read here
http://www.usmle-forums.com/img-fmg-...want-hear.html

You can also read more about this issue if you click on the Match-2015 tag link at the bottom of this thread.

Contrary to this, I have been hearing recently about the increase in the no of residency slots in the coming years..and also about the immigration reform that allows you to work on spouse visa..what I have come to know by talking to a few residents here is match results won't b affected in the coming years due to increased no of American grads because there'll be a parallel increase in seats too..

it's sounds too good to be true that the number of residency spots are going to be increased. It's kind of tricky. I guess we'll know it soon - or may be the hard way Fingers crossed.

I heard about that before ... but if you have Excellent CV, you will get position ... you have to support your C.V to be in the safe side
