Yup. I know it's a bit confusing, but...
I'm in Ireland. Baystate comes over to Ireland every year to interview residency applicants here before they get to the bulk of the applications. So... we're like a little group on our own.

For Irish applicants, if you get your residency application in on time (i.e. Sept 15th or close to it), you will be considered for early interview (generally the last week of September) if you meet their selection criteria for interviews.

I'm not making it up, lads! My interview is at 11am on Thursday - I will report back on the forum and let everyone know how it went.

It's early days. Don't get disheartened by the flux of interviews around you. Sit patient until the second to third week in October. You'll have something by then - your credentials are superb!

MSPEs haven't gone out yet.

You're a great applicant - hold tight until the middle of October. Remember that interviews keep trickling in until January!

It's easier said than done after all the hard work that has gone into applications. However, keep the faith. You'll match because you're good enough to match.

Syncity

Thank you very much for the kind words.
I understand that my credentials are good but somewhere an unknown fear keeps pulling back. I have to keep my nerves calm and wait. So far I had 3 acknowledgements. May be the lack of Greencard poses IMG's this problem to wait bit for longer times to get IV

Have a good day!

Thanks

I would bet you money that you'll get interviews and match. It's tough right now - everyone is obsessively checking the forums looking for invites. It takes a long time to go through 3,000 plus applicants. It takes a long time to whittle those applicants down repeatedly. It's of limited benefit to hear this from a stranger on the internet - distract yourself through work, family and friends. One day soon you'll unexpectedly open your inbox to find an invite or two waiting for you. Green card or no green card, those stats will get you plenty of interviews. It's a long, long season and we're just at the very start of it.

Thumbs Up After a long silence.....

3 IV's in 2 days!
Reading, PA
St Barnabas, NY
Fairview, OH

quite a start to the season.

there is 1 issue though, St barnabas & fairview have offered IV dates only in october. I would really prefer to take all my interviews in november and afterwards. does anyone know how accommodating these programs are, with regards to IV dates?
all opinions are welcome

Ok . Good to Hear. I guess this can be used as a measure of confidence that not all the invites come on one day.

I got the Reading offer on 09/18 and you got it on 09/23, so to all my dear friends out there who get upset, like me lol, that why note me? at the same place where you also applied ..... this is all random and be optimistic ... though i know its hard to be so nowadays given the fire activity on this forum.

Ceara,

I applied to Cook Count but I didn't receive an IV yet. If I get one I will be more than happy. The place has lots of in house fellowships and is in a great city!

GL
p.s. - if you see Dr. Carter or Dr. Benton there say hello!

Both. It can be sent directly to your email or it can be posted to the message center in ERAS (which will then be forwarded to your e-mail account).

Usually both.
But I heard about one guy that received an invitation email from a PD that uses gmail. And that didn't go to myeras but only to his email account.

It's usually both. Eras does the job of sending to the email in which you wrote on your profile on eras

Nope. They have been giving out acknowledgements to everyone since last week. I hope they start giving IVs though -- if they haven't already. St. Peter's is only 15 mins away from where I live.

Yea, I got one too last week. My friend got an IV offer in email on Monday however. So, they are acting for sure.

Oh, that's good! So, the IV will come anytime this week or next week. Let's hope for the best.

As mentioned above, there is no need to get worried or panicked right now. I understand that we are all going through a nervous phase and seeing the activity on this forum, its highly likely our anxiety increases.

But remember, this is WAY TOO EARLY in the season to be getting interviews. The flood zone will open between October 1 - October 20, when the MSPE's are out and the programs decide whom to invite and whom to not.

If you haven't heard from a single program by October 15, then call the places you are interested in to see if they have already send out invites and if so, will they consider you?

Hi, I have got acknowledgement from 4 programs so far including St. peters and bronx lebanon today..but no IV or rejections..It means that, since they are sending IV s already in their first wave.. I am out of the race for now regarding these programs.
I have average scores and moreover, I have done an amazing job of not getting MSPE on time, as after persistant cajoling noe my alma mater is ready to issue it to me..and it will be available to me on 10th october ..which means it will get uploaded by 25th October..Can any1 please tell me its significance for IMGs.is it absolutely inevitable???..Although ERAS has put a blank sheet mimicking MSPE so that application can go thru..is it a trick/ help done by ERAS so that people pay up on time and register for match.
I thought after giving step 3, tensions will ease up but getting dejected now. Congrats to all those who are securing ivs..u people have stellar stats.

@zombie17783

I agree. Step3 is not making any edge right now. I did my best to get a good score in step3 but nothing +ve so far. Atleast 260+ in Step1 or Step 2 with YOG < 3 years are getting IV's

Hennepin did sponsor J1 visas in the last few years. Their website says that too
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Non-resident applicants are welcome to apply. HCMC sponsors the J1 visa only. International graduates must meet the following requirements with no exceptions:
  • Have at least eight weeks U.S. inpatient experience at a U.S. academic teaching hospital
  • Achieve a score of 210 or higher with a first-time pass on USMLE steps 1, 2, and CS
  • Apply within five years of medical school graduation

Default IV

IV: Lankenau Medical Center.

I think Hennepin has sent mass rejection. I know 20 IMGs who got the rejection mail today.

"graduated from medical school within the past 24 months" is the requirement on their website. Should be lucky if you get an IV. Wish you good luck!

Don't worry. An Interview call doesn't guarantee a residency. Some people mess up with good opportunities while some create their own . I don't have great scores too but I understand the feeling.

239 step 1/ 215 CK, CS(passed 1st attempt),YOG:2012, 2 months clinical electives,11 months research, 7 months volunteer, 3 peer reviewed publications, 8 non peer reviewed publications, 1 poster presentation, need visa.

And 6 interviews so far . I feel they don't only look at ur scores. After all, they need residents not quiz takers!

they look for people to match... someone they want to have on their team for the next few years. Interviews are the best way to show them that you will be fun to work with.

But guys realize that those guys with 270īs and more than 260īs in both steps are just a few, the rest (out of the almost 30k applicants) have normal scores, and some of those guys probably are hesitant to publish their score cuz they see the out of space scores published and some of us dont mind even though we dont have as excellent scores are those guys.
Cheer up and lets hope for the best!

Default hey everyone!

Hey everyone! I've been following some of the threads on this forum for awhile now, but I've finally caved and signed up. I don't think I can finish this mission by myself hehe.

First of all, good luck to everyone on this journey and congratulations to all who have started receiving interviews!

I just got my ck on the 25th and sent out my application on the 26th. I know my scores aren't as great, as some of the other members, but I'm really aiming for internal medicine, so hopefully it will all work out.

I applied to about 75 FM and almost 200 IM programs.

Within 24 hours, I got my first email from eras... and it was a rejection from Medstar union memorial. Ahh... hopefully things will pick up! :/

If anyone can comment on what they think of my chances, that'd be great!

Hi Match 14:

You have an amazing score on Step 3. Could you please share about your step 3 preparation.
Don't worry, the season has just started. I am sure you will match in a very good university program. Good luck.

congrats! you're the man. with that kind of score and a YOG of 2013, you definitely deserve it. it's really scary to see the scores of people in this forum.

now, i think I have to accept the fact that I would not get any IV I'm an old IMG with low step 1 score although I have very strong academic credentials and strong clinical practice. so far, i have 2 acknowledgments, 6 rejections, and 0 IV. I'm now preparing for the worst

good luck to the rest.

Hey HOTdoc..thanks man.

Please do not get intimidated by seeing the scores in this forum. I know applicants with higher scores are given preference, and they are the ones who get invites in the first 2 weeks (hence the first updates on forums). But that doesn't necessarily mean people with lesser scores are out of the race. OR should i say people with less attractive profile because i believe programs look at your overall status, rather just peeping at your scores.

So buckle up and keep that hope alive. Many programs are still in the process of reviewing applications and some prefer to wait until oct 1 to get the MSPE's. The bulk of invitations are send out in the first 2 weeks of october...just hang in there and pray.
