Default question

general question... does anyone know if theres a trend for all the top scorers to get IVs earlier on in the season and the the avg scorers more towards mid/end of season?

But that doesn't necessarily mean people with lesser scores are out of the race. OR should i say people with less attractive profile because i believe programs look at your overall status, rather just peeping at your scores.

So buckle up and keep that hope alive. Many programs are still in the process of reviewing applications and some prefer to wait until oct 1 to get the MSPE's. The bulk of invitations are send out in the first 2 weeks of october...just hang in there and pray.

anomali... thanks i think you kind of answered my question.

hotdoc... i think it's a little too early for you too start thinking like that. youve got a solid ck score and many other +ve points from what ive gathered. hang in there, it'll be a bumpy ride for some of us, but be optimistic! god works wonders

There is some people on this forum who are as fake as the word fake means...and you and i probably have a good guess where and who they are.... You hear people saying i score 260 and 250 ... I just wonder if they have such a great score what the heck r they doing here wasting their time.

Just relax people. This is tough time and we should not fight with eachother. Lot of my friends who have score in 220s and 230s haven't got a single interview yet and people like us who are high scorers should support them and help them through this phase. Its a fact based on the past years record that interviews start coming from first week of october. Don't just freak out based on the profiles of the few people on this thread. 250s and 260s are not common.
Last yr matching rate for imgs was around 48%. And if anyone is thinking that all of them were having 250+ then he is absolutely wrong. After all you need just 1 interview to match. Be optimistic. Be positive and dont let the current situation drive you crazy.

I have low 220's on both my Steps and I have 3 IV's (all university programs), 1 rejection, 3 acknowledgements so far. Thanks, but I don't *need* help from someone who is in the same boat as me. Having a high score in steps may put you at an advantage, but thinking that *you* can somehow help the 'rest of us' is repulsive. I certainly hope you don't carry that ego into your interviews. I don't think anyone else who is reading this thread silently without feeling the need to flaunt their scores in every post needs anyone's help either (not from users here anyway). There are several factors that come in to play than just scores. Clearly, my case should put this notion to rest that scores are the only thing that matter & give hope to those with more 'realistic' scores. Good luck to everyone in the upcoming weeks.

All please calm down!

No score is too low or too high for our collective purpose of knowing what's going on there with IV offers, etc. for 2014 IM Match.

Please stay focused on that.

*No one is interested in other people's scores, because this is not the USMLE Step 1 or CK Forum*

Thank You

Neither I was bragging about my scores nor I was putting anyone down based on scores. As far as help and support is concerned, oh come on I wasn't saying that I can help u get an interview. I was talking abt the support we can generate in this forum to motivate people who are not getting interview calls and are depressed or anxious. Ultimately its just a phase in life and it will go away soon.

If you got 3 iv calls and u have low 220s then u are good as gold becoz the people who I was reffering to haven't got a single iv call uptil now. I was trying to motivate them to keep their hopes high and be positive.

Hey brothers..seeing this kind of enimosity for the first time..Listen I may not be a preacher or saint..but any regular guy with normal bowel movements can judge that USMLE score never will be a true testament of ur capacity to be a good doctor both in present and future.
I know amazing good docs, that gt low scores and my fellow backbenchers, failing in every prof. exam doing cardiology/ hemat-onco in USA.
We all know precisely the number of factors that come into play on the day of exam, anxiety, stress levels etc.
But the truth is and will always be that, if I dont know a person His/her step 1/2 scores will appeal to me in a subjective way (like in the case of PDs) and bro drsaid..congrats for the ivs..ur an inspiration ..but there must be sumthing else also on ur cv too that shines brighter (I wanna know your mojo). This forum is..to share and support..I feel u bnp100..u were trying to do a good thing..and those who have good scores and getting ivs are just sharing and making a stats chart ..so that we know what matters and what is really going out there (to get a broader view).
Wen u read that a number of prog have set lower limit as 220..and the mean score of applicants is above that..and a guy burns 24 hrs a day and achieves 208..what would u say to him in this present cut throat scenario?? Does only the ones having similar score as his are obliged to help him and guide him or can people with scores in excess of his also dare to say a few words..wiithout getting crushed.

Your credentials are okay. When did you apply? I think by mid-october you'll receive IVs. Top imgs/GC/US citizens just happen to be given priority for IVs during the first wave or this september.

Default IVs

Hello guys, I've got 3 IVs so far:

St. Joseph, Chicago
St. Agnes, Baltimore
Uconn, Connecticut

I'm really concerned because I applied a week late due to a late LoR. I hope my application didn't get buried under a pile of great applicants.

Goodluck everyone!

hey guys relax! the fact that you didnt get 270´s doesnt mean nobody can get them because of that , and im sure we all work our ass off to get the scores, but sometimes the effort we put on the steps its not proportionally related to the score, period. Stop arguing, this forum is for help and with all respect, NOT TO SHOW IMMATURITY BY ACTING OUT .

Good luck to everyone

USCE and Visa are obviously very important determinants for IVs. I have high scores, but only 3 IVs so far. :/ Looks bad.

Well, you only need one to match But yup, I have average scores, even with the GC, the only 2 IV's I have so far are due to the fact that I have worked in those hospitals before and have an LOR from there.

That's right, only need one to match. It's a great way to look at things. I'm trying to stay optimistic! haha

Embarrassed

I just have a question cause I'm really getting frustrated, when exactly does the bulk of invitations to the " Normal-scoring IMGs " go out?!!
in other words, when should we stop waiting for emails & just let it go ?

The nose of a bull dog is slanted backwards meaning that it would continue to breath without letting go! I have seen lots of applicants who got interview in Jan and matched to those programmes. So really u wait till Jan.

Interestingly, the interview invite was via my personal e-mail only - nothing in ERAS at all.

9 IVs in less than 2weeks & none of them came in through eras! I advise you confirm the authenticity of those.

Some programs are out of match but they accept all documents through ERAS only, and if after IV they select you they will ask you to sign out of match if you agree to be a resident in this program.
I got message from one program like this. They have per-screening phone IV and than live IV.

Default No USCE here

A little info for those without USCE,

I've got 2 interviews so far and I don't have any USCE or US LoR, just 3 LoR from my attendings back in med school. Clearly that the interviews are coming way slower than if I had got USCE, but still there is something to be happy about.

Best of luck to all of you!
