No - no promises at all. I did the best I could at the interviews I went on and can only hope for a favourable outcome.

As my decision on location and program is also weighted heavily by my family's input, the places I cancelled would not have been good for me. At the time of applying, I hadn't a feeling for how many interviews I would ultimately get, so my application had many programs to ensure I would get interviews.

Congrats on the number of interviews. Hope you match! I think you have shared your credentials before. Do you mind sharing again? I have not received any interviews but I am hopeful. My credentials as stated below but I don't know why I have not received anything

St. Luke's, Lankenau, Greenwich, Bridgeport, York, Florida Hospital, Memorial Savannah, New Hanover, Southern Illinois University, UTHSCA San Antonio, Rochester Gen Hospital.
I envy you But I know you deserve them. You made the right decision on the number of IVs to attend because the average length of ROL of those who get matched based on data from NRMP is around 10.

May the force be with you!

I hope it doesn't come back to bite me in the a$$, but there's a limit to how much I can spend on these transatlantic trips. In my heart of hearts, I know I wouldn't be a good match for these programs (for a variety of reasons).

I'd love it if cancelling these interviews translates into opportunities for people on this forum to get their chance.
Please do pray that i atleast get one of them.. anyone of them..

Just received another IV -- so 5 total.

Sadly no. I am hopeful but also realistic. I will have to try again next year with a better CV which I need to start finding something now.

I honestly do not know.

That being said, repeat applicants are getting interviews. So I don't know what programs are looking for.

@mpnyc: Congrats!!!

I have started doubting this person, just in this last 3 weeks you have been picking up interviews every other day even on new year day

Are you sure you don't need to refill your neuroleptics?

Hey friend that is below the belt. There is a popular saying that: " if you tell a lie that your key is missing you must be as well ready to sleep outside your room"
So lets see how things turn out.

lol.....you can believe what u want my friend...
today i have a pre-interview dinner and actual interview tomorrow :-)

i only picked 1 IV with step 1, another one when my CS score came out on Dec. 11, and the rest came after my CK results came in on Dec. 18th.

Im a US citizen that went to the Caribbean for med school. Im a 4th year that did all my rotations in NYC at my school's affiliated hospitals. My classmates that applied on time with all scores have averaged 20-25 IVs. Since I was so late I only received 6 IVs.

No ink. No contract. If they say otherwise, tell them your attorney will be contacting them.

Hey buddy..do you mind telling the program that offered the prematch?
But as the last writer rightly said, no officially signed contract, no legal consequences....

Default Prematch

I was fortunate enough (very) to be offered a pre-match on my first interview of the season late last year. I was a re-applicant. I accepted of course. This has been a wonderful site and community where I learned which books to use, study tactics, and was also challenged by seeing what others were doing. I still have step 3 to get over with before starting-I don't want to go back to reading for these exams when I've forgotten all the obgyn/peds stuff! Thank you all.

Lutheran Medical doesn't offer prematch. The interview is in the afternoon. If you happen to have iv with the PD be prepared to answer a ton of medical questions along with a case to present. The interview the chairman is short and doesn't ask medical questions. They do have faculty interviewing as well. Usually 2 IVs. Goodluck

Thanks Maria!!! Really appreciate your response. Can you please tell me what medical questions did the PD ask exactly. Or what topics to read on. That will be great help.

Hay, I didn't get to IV with the PD. Not sure of what questions he asks but I have heard that he asks you multiple questions and a case to present. He may ask you questions related to your case so I guess read in detail everything about your case. The iv with chairman is only a few mins and no medical questions. Hope this helps.

Hey guys its been great following this thread. So many talented individuals!

I'm planning on making a rank list. I'm trying to decide how would you rank these three in IM. I'm interested in doing a competitive fellowship afterwards such as cardio/GI

Trying to decide on my rank list. Does anyone have any idea about the UConn program? I've heard rumors that the residents are not very friendly and that Hartford is not the best place to live....is this true? i didn't get that vibe at the interview, but did anyone feel otherwise? any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

I have a friend that did his residency there and talked highly of it!
Here´s what he told me:

Pros:

Diversity= You will work at 3 different hospitals - Hartford Hospital, St francis - Both community hospitals u´ll c level 1 trauma, Stroke, MI... UCONN university hospital - You will treat people from dif. social groups (inmates, strange diseases).

Independence

Complete Training (Due to diversity you will have seen a bit of everything)

0% Scutwork

Great relationship bet. resisdents, attendings, nurses...

Great Fellowship match (esp. Cardio (90% - Good research opportunities), GIT (70%), Pulm (95%), Nephro (90%) but not really good at endocrinology)

Cons:

Very busy Hospitals

1st year is really tough, u have to learn the 3 different systems at each hospital.

Hartford doesn´t have much to do.

I would love to match there!
Hope this helps!

Thanks so much g@bby, for that very informative reply! Much appreciated! I really liked the program too. But, unfortunately i have to consider other factors as well, such as my family's location, so let's see how it goes. Thanks again! Good luck!

Cool I matched!!!

This is to serve as an encouragement to those IMGs out there with the dream of a US medical residency. Don't ever give up!

To the glory of God, statisticians were proven wrong today as I matched despite having just 3 ivs. 3 friends of mine also matched with just two ivs each. Who says there is no hope?

I am a repeat applicant. I know what it feels like not to match. My heart therefore goes to everyone who is yet to match - your time for celebration will soon come, provided you don't listen to those who tell you it is no longer possible.

Here are my stats for those who may be interested
Step 1 228; CK: 252; CS: passed; Step 3: 227 - all at first attempt

YOG: 2005 - OLD!!!

USCE: 3 months of observer-ship

US LOR: 2 (remaining 2 from my home country

Other attributes: Presently doing MPH; Previous internal medicine residency in home country

Needs visa? YES

Number of programs applied to: 30 IM; 11 categorical Neuro ( I got no neuro interview)

The bottom line: DON'T EVER GIVE UP!!! I wish you all the best.

Good day guys!

214 (1) 234(1) CS - this may 30. Will be scheduled the Observership after the CS.

YOG - 2012

Already started practice as a ward/hospitalist in my home country for 6 months while reviewing for step 1 and 2.

What are my chances of getting an interview and getting a match?
