Default needs help!

Hello everyone,
I am hoping for someone to guide me here. I got my score for step1 yesterday as 197 which is very upsetting for me coz I did put efforts. and now I feel completely clueless.
I need advice on what to do next. I would be very thankful if anyone can guide me that what should I do next ?
-IMG with no USCE / Observership/ externship/ research yet.
-going to appear for CS soon. / or should I just drop out?
-I wanted to go on pediatric since always. / possible anymore?
-How good I should be doing in step 2 in order to get some spot?
- what can I do to boost my application?

I am really hoping for some guidance here on this forum
Thankyou.

Hi Merida,

Work towards an AWESOME score for CK, so you can prove to residency programs that you are able to excel in clinicals though you had a bad day with Step 1. So, figure out what went wrong with your Step 1 prep so you can really go out there and conquer the rest of the exams. To boost your application, start doing externships/observerships/research so that you can build contacts and build your resume.

Good luck!

I haven't gotten any IVs yet and I feel super disheartened. I also applied to psychiatry but Peds is my first love. One of my attending in Peds ID told me he was shocked when he found out about my step 1 scores and "I don't want this to be a cross that you bear for the rest of your life." But I feel like it's going to drag me down forever. I almost want to give up.

Edit: I'm almost embarrassed to admit this on here because you guys have such great scores. But I needed to vent somewhere.
Hey, don't worry about this! you did well with your other steps. Besides you have lots of USCE and you are a fresh graduate. A lot of people don't have those benefits (myself included). Calm down, don't panic, and keep your head up. Good luck!

Default another rejection :(

this is so depressing...
just got rej from Mass Gen
this concludes two weeks of no new IV's, just 3 rejections.

this is so nerve wrecking!

Im really struggling with writing the email letting programs know I just passed CS. can't decide how to say and who should I send it to (PC or PD)

any advice?

I got the email confirmation from the program about two weeks after I scheduled it on the website. my advice is call them and make sure your date is secured. good luck

Around 30 rejections so far, too many to state . 2 IVs from Saint Peter's Hospital, New Burnswick, NJ & Southern Illinois University, Springfield, Illinois.

Don't know what to say but this is not what I expected so far. How many IVs do people who match in pediatrics get on average ? Are 30 rejections in September and October alone too much or is that normal guys ? Should we anticipate more IVs in November/December or more rejections ?

IMG-YOG 2009-Step 1 226-Step 2 243-CS PASS-All 1st attempt-Need visa-1 month US clerkship-1 month US observership-3 US LORs-1 from home country-Applied to 100 programs.

What's the dowe side of my profile ? is 2009 considered to be an old IMG ? is step 1 score 226 considered to be on the average/low side ?

Your feedback is appreciated.

Good luck to all of us.

Default 3rd IV

just received today my 2nd Peds IV but 3rd IV overall!

Bronx-lebanon...the IV email says they are not participating in the NRMP...that means all their positions are for prematch...i want to get prematched but I'm only available for IV in January although they gave me option for december IV...

any thoughts on this?

Why this forum is so dead ? So many silent observers out there! Please guys share your experiences so everybody can benefit, you won't lose anything!
This forum has given us so much since our step 1 and will continue to do so throughout residency and even fellowship, so we all should give something back!

Thanks

Default how many interviews in pediatrics till now?

I am a bit curious to know the average number of interviews pediatric residency applicants got till now (IMGs).Its almost Jan ,still I am not finding encouraging news.U can just mention the number of interviews & your credentials .Is it that the specialty has become too competitive for IMGs?kindly reply.

Hi everyone!
I just saw the forum and I wanted to share my experiences!

I am IMG-2011, 234(step1) 241(CK) CS(1), research fellowship 1.5 years with 2 posters (co-author in national meetings) so far, 6mo observeship in pediatrics

Got 12 IVs, cancelled 2, 2 prematch which am not interested and I am ranking 8 programs.
Any ideas about SUNY downstate?? I went for an interview and I felt really unwelcome. The program director was a very sweet person but one of my interviewers was behaving like he was making me a favor to interview me and his attitude was at least rude. I got mixed feelings (also stated from other applicants) and I wanted to ask about your opinion ? SUNY downstate is a well renowned program but the environment there was not convincing me to stay.
Also, what about Alpert Einstein in Philly??
