Wish us Happy Friday
Me neither. I received an email earlier this week from mt sinai, Chicago saying that they would be accepting applications till nov 1st and only then will they review all and send out interviews/rejections. It is probably a similar case with many other programs from whom neither the imgs nor the amgs heard from.

Apparently having a j2 visa isn't a not requiring visa criterion. I received a rejection from oakwood yesterday and they said I am not eligible to apply. When I read the criteria the only contradicting one was that they do not sponsor a visa. So I do need a visa sponsoring program.

Hey Teona. Me, you and RosieSalm have interviews at Jamaica hospital medical center. I guess we can share our experiences to each other and help ourselves. Mine and Rosiesalm's interviews are on dec 9th. When is urs? And how are you preparing for it? I mean without the list of faculty members on the website

The large number of applications seems to trump the IMG friendliness of all the programs

Sorry to hear, I was misinformed by a program as well and I was very angry. When I contacted them in the summer they said I will need all 3 USMLE scores to be considered for an IV (of which i was assuming step1, ck, cs) I contacted them again after apps were submitted and was informed that what they were referring to was USMLE step 3 for all IMGs regardless of visa status . Why!!!!

But I thought you need step 3 only for the programs sponsoring h visas which anyways are very few?

You are right, but this particular program was operating on their own rules...

I've noticed my rejection emails usually come in the mornings.
The three IV emails I've received so far were sent after 4pm. Same with you guys?

That's not an outright rejection. It means that their interview spots are full and if people cancel, a spot may open up for you. Now you maybe 1st in line or 50th, but at least there's still a chance.

Unfortunatelly it doesn't. They mention on the email about the waiting list and I'm not on it.

Nope, don't go there.

I have 1 pub as first author that isn't ob/gyn related. I have some dean's lists and stuff in my first few years, but no awards. Clinical experience was just at hospitals in the US in the Great Lakes area. Few A's, a few B's, no honors. Letters of rec were ok, but my Ob/Gyn one was supposed to be really good (as per the Ob Chair's secretary) so I think that helped. I have some interesting work experiences outside of medicine, so that may have helped. But that's about all I'm willing to share

Is not affiliated with Sinai networks elsewhere...that's what the first "do not call" notice said, educated guess

the situation is more than worrisome

besides, am I the only one that has not contacted the programs at all? I thought we should avoid such things. anyhow...I am really jealous of friends applying to other specialties who have gotten like more than 10-12 interviews from good programs.

ObHobo, which is your strongest IV?

Gracias.

Same situation. What does that mean? I did not get a rejection either.

guys don't get discouraged...if you have not received a rejection it's still good. and even u have received one, God might have a better plan for u.

It sounds like Henry Ford, which might have 99% IMGs.

Many friends of mine told me that now is the right time for our IVs --- let's see.

I got three emails from them saying the same thing: they're still reviewing the applications (600 so far. 50 IV spots)
BTW: rejection from Northwestern

Ugh I haven't gotten the rejection hopefully it means that I'm waitlisted somehow. This is like my most impossible dream ever. Still hoping.

FYI Mayo's average USMLE score of their current residents in both step 1 and 2 is 221. yearly, 1-2/4 are IMGs and the rest almost from North/South Dakota. I believe they really trust applicants who one way or the other have stepped by the institution either for rotation or research. This is my understanding.
R.I.P
Have u guys heard anything from Yale Yale, Brown, Cornell, Columbia, Duke?

St luke's roosevelt is not as friendly I guess to usual IMG. Their IMGs are from American university of Beirut, Israel med school (which can be considered almost like amg) and poland med school grad with phd

Hey guys,
Quick question. I just received my step 3 score report (yeahhhhhh!!!!!). Finally done with the steps. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as Step 1 and 2 - 230s (I had 240s and 250s on Step 1 and 2). Anyway do you think I should email the places I'm interviewing and the programs I'm interested to ask them to update this on my application?

Are you a USIMG? I really don't think it matters since most people do it after interviews are done or well into their intern year. However, the score is still good and it can't hurt.

Congratulations! Good job! How long was your prep? What resourses you find the most useful for prep? I'm doing UW now. Done with Rx. Also, did you use USMLE consult? Thank you)))

Just got RJ from Baltimore - inactive application.

It took me 6 weeks to prepare because I'm working too. I used UW Q-bank and CCS cases. For reviewing I had First Aid and Fischer's book. I only used regular text books to review the areas I was doing really bad on the Q-bank.
Although my score was not as good as past scores I believe Step 3 is by far the best test. The questions are not long and everything makes sense. Also the CCS cases are fun to do.
If you want to know something more specific just ask me. I'll be happy to help!

same rejection. as they offered 180 interviews and if among these there are 70 IMGs it means all who are not in interview list are basically beyond the match

70 - is the number of IMGs matched in ob annually

Did they say that 70/180 are IMGs????? lol this is worrisome

I got the same rejection..along with Mayo, Yale, UGW, Columbia...

Think that we are overqualified for Drexel lol
Think also that this program is crazy busy...if u consider that the administrative manager is working till 8.14 PM how about the residents?!?!?!?!? lol

cheers

No, they didn't say mention the number. I personally don't think they interview 70 IMGs, mostlikely much less than that. I don't think OBGYN is particularly popular field among IMGs.
