Rejection from Reading as well.

I just found out that Drexel program is on probation this year, I wonder why (lol, kinda make it doesn't hurt as much getting rejection from them :P ). The other program that is on probation is Sinai Jamaica. (source: ACGME website)

Congratz ObHobo, did you get the Jersey city today? I'm sure the rejection from Sinai Chicago is simply because you are overqualified for them.

Congrats!

I got rj from NY presbyterian hospital -
Our decision
regarding your application should not be interpreted as an assessment of your
fitness as an OB/GYN resident applicant as a whole, but rather as a reflection
of our limited number of interview opportunities.

There's definitely some programs that haven't sent out ANY invites yet. I haven't herd from Lutheran or Geisinger out on the east coast and they definitely take IMGs

Hopefully so sir. But, I think someone got an invite from Lutheran at that other IMGs' forum. Crossing fingers for all of us, I do hope that we all get matched to our fave program.

I believe some of them are. The program I interviewed with said that they would decide about the candidates after finishing all the interviews and that they would not be going to match.

They sent me an email saying all the interview spots were booked and they were sorry bla bla bla... Since I was really interested in the program I emailed them back telling about my interest and saying I'd be happy to IV in case of cancellations: it worked! I didn't use any external connections. I guess we need to be pushy!!!
Congrats on the IV!

Mine is on December 13th.
I'm interviewing in NY this Friday, that's why I asked about the pre-match: Bronx-Lebanon. I don't think they will go to match. Will see.

Almost got a heart attack receiving personal email from Duke, but sadly it was a rejection. That's really courteous though, to send rejections from email and not just from ERAS.

It's standard email, saying you are good candidate and so on, but unable to extend interview, good luck for your future career bla bla. But it's just nice because it was sent through email.

Rutgers NJMS opened up an extra interview date and I got an invite!
I wrote them a letter about my interest in the program and my connections to the area. I think it helped.

someone can match from one IV and someone can not match from 10 IV, depends how well you do on IV.
Overall, I think that NRMP for IMGs is just a way to earn money . IMG usually apply to more than 100 RP and AMG apply 50 maximum. So...

Has everyone received a mail from Bronx?
Or have they only informed those people who are not being offered pre-match?
I have not received any mail so far.

I don't know. The email was really generic and addressed to all candidates. It also mentioned that the selected candidates will be contacted latter.

Probably they have started sending offers, I would guess that the tops of their list will most likely reject their offer and they will make their way down the list.

From what I noticed, the list is in order of interviews - datewise. First name on the list is the person who interviewed on the first day. Last on the list is the person who interviewed on the last day - Cause guys who interviewed with me are listed around me.
There are 14 names on the list that are saved (so their ID appears 3 times), so I feel those are the ones getting the love letters

would you? how are their credentials? I am asking you bc yours are outstanding for someone with visa needed, so that to have a general idea about the pool of candidates and their perspective in the upcoming match.

Avarege credentials but 10+ IVs (obgyn and IM or FM). I honestly don't know what to do. Have only 5 IVs - all obgyn. The program itself seems to be ok. The location is really bad though. Really hard to decide.
What about you?

The fundamental question is the quality of the ob applicants pool this year. Plus we should take into account that there are about only 70 spots for us in the us altogether

The program is ok. But is at the bottom of my list for sure irrespective of its location.

Total number of applicants on Bronx list is 106 - I think almost 90% IMG applicants for OBGYN got interviewed by them.
2013 match date shows 153 IMG's had matched in all of OBGYN.
So the chances this year to match for 1259 spots is not all that bad!
What do you say?

disagree.

1) domain edu identifies amgs. see how many of them have edu

2) nrmp 2013 clear indicates that 70 nonus--imgs got matched ( this includes GC holders). 153 - thats including carribeans.

3) 1259 - is not img number. at all. noone will put you in preference to amg.

1. Yes, I saw that there were applicants from Brown, UPMC, Emory etc as well
2. Thanks for clarifying 70 were non-US IMGs - total of 153 including FMGs in 2013 match
3. 1259 was the total number of OBGYN spots in 2013 - so this year would be +/- a few, basically the figure would be around that.

What I am trying to say in point 1 is that almost 90% of IMGs got called for interview with Bronx - Of the total number of 106, there were app 15 AMGs. Which means this year not many have applied to this specialty.

They are pre-matching to get the cream of IMGs in their programme because in the ROL it would have been at the bottom of everyone's list. And not many AMGs applied here either (cause AMGs get called to most of the programmes they apply to, which is why they apply to 25 odd & get 20 odd interviews).

You want to say that for apr. 70 spots we have apr. 90 classic imgs with or without GK?

I met imgs who were not invited to bronx. i dont know why was that.

Yep. All categorical.
BTW: I have an email with edu domain just because I'm involved in research here so you can't use that to identify the AMGs!

All interview calls come by December because OBGYN does not have any interviews after 17 Jan - Except Howard.
So I guess this is it!!!

New to the forum and just wanted to let you know that yes, there is still a chance (even if its pretty small) to receive interview offers. I just got an invite this week for an interview at SUNY downstate in early February. So keep your fingers crossed!! Hoping for the best for everyone this upcoming match
