So this part is the one that kind of get tricky. Just to confirm:
Observer ship-Can be either volunteer or work experience
Externships-Only work experience

- This is what i have read is some other forums and just want to confirm. Additional what are the things recommended to put under Organization and Position? Especially if you worked under a doctor...would the be organization be the clinics/hospital name and then what is also the position, medical student?

-Lastly this question was asked before but the thread got deleted for some reason. It was regarding a observer ship where the doctor allowed you to do physical exams, assist in taking cultures/biopsies.etc, even visit hospitals and let you ask them questions. The main thing is it all the criteria to fulfill it to be a externship but the major fact being the student doesn't have any insurance, but than again your only assisting (even a office worker assist and they don't have insurance) so in conclusion would it be alrite to label such a experience as "work experience"/externship.

Thanks and Good Luck.

Also, the personal statement. How many words should it be ? I was looking at the past threads and there 800 words + but last week i think it was Sabio who mentioned 400 words. 400 seems very few to mention anything. I thought between 600-850 max or about 1 to 1 and 1/2 page depending on font. Any input on this?

Which subhead should we enter our elective experiences?
Suppose we get an observership and/or research after we finalize and approve our application on 09/15/2013, can we change our CV later on?

I think electives would go in work experience? Anyone have the answer to what are the things recommended to put under Organization and Position? Especially if you worked under a doctor...would the be organization be the clinics/hospital name and then what is also the position, medical student??

Also as you might be doing your reserach you may have come across the program asking for one of the LoR being from the chief of medicine, does that only apply to AMG and for IMG they only need 3 LoR? Thats what i read in an another forum but wanted to get some confirmation on it?

Thanks and Good Luck.

I agree that organisation name should be the name of the hospital for an elective. Position - I would like to use the word "INTERN" instead of student. For example: Intern-Cardiology or Intern-Surgery.

"Intern" would mean 1st year of residency! I think "visiting student" is appropriate.

I have to agree with Vit. K, where visiting student is a better option then Intern.

Also just out of curiosity are you guys applying those programs that say need 3 LoR and one has to be from Chairman of medicine (or something along those lines) or is that only for AMG and for IMG only 3 LoRs are required?

Do anyone know if you attended online courses related to medicine that were taught by doctors in universities and got certificate of completion- would that go under :
-Work Experiences as its a Teaching experience or would it go under
Other Awards/Accomplishments (which is only limited to 510 words) ?

Does "Chairman of Medicine" means Head of the Medicine Department for IMGs??

Im not sure, its a possibility but then again i have also heard that chairman letter only applies to american grads. Either way i have asked one of the program coordinators a similar question and when i get a response ill post the answer here.
