Question August - Is it too late to apply for PTAL?

Hi all!

Can I have an opinion: Do you think early August is too late to begin my PTAL application? I have already mailed in my fingerprint and L1A-E forms to the Medical Board of California, but I haven't paid the application fee yet. Plus I am still about to request my med school to accomplish and send the documents that need to be sent by them. I also haven't sent the transcripts from FSMB or ECFMG yet.

What do you think? I'd hate to waste ~$500+ with the risk of not getting the PTAL in time for the interview season. MBC people are hard to talk to over the phone.

Any reply would be highly appreciated!!

Hello? Maybe I can hear from someone who has made a late PTAL application in the past.

The Medical Board of California recently started expediting the processing of PTAL. So you can actually make it before mid September.

I applied and paid the fee in late May but haven't seen any update in my application there!!! and every time that I am calling them they are responding that your analyst is at vacation and will be back at 8th of August!!!

That is what I am afraid of! At least you submitted yours in May.

Can I ask, did you send your transcripts from the FSMB, or from ECFMG, or both? Because according to the FSMB website:

"If you are an international graduate who has taken Step 1 & 2 only and have not yet registered for Step 3 you must request your transcripts from ECFMG.

If you are an international graduate who is registered for or taken Step 3, the FSMB can send all transcript requests and holds USMLE, FLEX and SPEX scores."

But on the Medical Board of California PTAL instructions it says from FSMB, however I haven't registered for Step 3 yet. I'm confused

I actually called FSMB and they told me that they have to send it! So, I paid 65 $ and they send it to the board but I have not received any confirmation from the board yet!!!!
