Info Matching Timeline - doubt

I found the below info in FA13. Just needed some guidance regarding it.
U have to give all 3 exams step1, CK and CS by August to get max no of interviews... But what does this mean, this is also from FA... To be entered in the match you need to have passed all the three exams before rank order list (usually late feb)...
So when exactly should u have given all the three exams and ecfmg certification for the match ??

Which universities have their own match and need their applications to be sent to them directly and not through eras?

Other questions-
And is it needed to give step1 before registering for step 2 cs?

What is the usual prep time of step 3 for an IMG ?

Regards,
Faisal Kagadkar.

You should have the results for all exams by August so that you can receive your ECFMG certification (if already graduated) in time for application submission. You get your paper certificate in the mail in about two weeks after completing the exams and having your medical education credentials verified.

MyERAS submission opens September 15, and it is better to have your application in as early as possible because some programs download and look at applications fairly early. Remember that the turnaround for CS results can take a while (check USMLE bulletin for score release dates) and you should also prepare in the event of score delays. This year there was no delay in CS reporting, but there was a delay in CK reporting so that anyone who sat for the exam after July 27 won't be able to receive their results until September 25.

I feel that most programs participate in ERAS. I don't know where you can find this information. The only other option I can think of would try to get an off-cycle position (where a resident was dismissed or dropped out).

No. You can actually sign up for them at the same time and choose different eligibility periods. You don't even necessarily have to take them in order, but that would be the ideal way to complete them because CS technically builds on CK which builds on Step 1.

I'm not sure, but there is a poll on this website:Also, one should be aware that Step 3 will change soon, so the prep might be slightly different. Please check the USMLE bulletin for more information.

Also, just a disclaimer don't take all my words as stated facts (or really anything you read on non-official websites). Please try to research a little bit and share where you find discrepancies in my post.

Good luck!
