Question LOR from a physician whom I did not work with

Hi,
I am asking my Clinical coordinator (who is a practicing physician) for a LOR. He is the owner of the company that arranges clinical rotations for my school. I have not personally done a clinical rotation under him as an attending. However, he is aware of my performance in clinical rotations and will write me a LOR happily. Would this LOR worth anything since I did not do a rotation with him myself?

I think it depends on how the letter is worded. If it sounds like a secondary source about your performance then I don't think it would be a good letter. It would be more useful to have the primary source write you a letter. Rather, if he physically observed you and has his own comments regarding your knowledge and/or skills then it would be a good letter to use.

What should be included in the LOR to make it more effective?
