Question Passed all exams; How long for the ECFMG Certificate?

I gave my CK exam on August, so I would to get my results on 25th Sep.
my question is, after getting CK result, when should I expect to be ECFMG certified? Oct 10? as I have read in forum that it takes average 15 days for it.
so is it prudent that I apply on Oct 10th with my ECFMG certificate in hand or do I apply on Sept 25th with my CK result?

You get certified immediately after passing all of your exams and having ALL OF YOUR MED SCHOOL credentials verified.

This includes Medical Diploma, Transcript and everything they ask you to send when you graduate.

It takes 15 days (sometimes it takes less, like a week in my case) to get the paper certificate (like the Diploma), but online you are certified as long as you fulfill those 2 requisites I mentioned earlier.

In ERAS. There is a question about the date of issue of your ECFMG certificate. You won't know the date of your ECFMG certificate issue date until you get the paper in the mail.

However, you can anticipate. For example in your case you can anticipate that your certificate issue date will be October. So you can say October 2013 in ERAS profile, and you don't need to wait for the physical certificate to arrive in the mail.

I have same issue, expecting ck result on 25th sept. So I called ecfmg today and the guy said it takes 10 business days from result release to get ecfmg certified which will be Oct. as Sabio said

I received certification on-line the day after I passed all the required exams - the paper certificate arrived a week later.

I'm sure that when you update your USMLE exam results (by pressing the tab in ERAS) that will be communicated to programs.

Is there a question in all those application tabs in ERAS about when a person was ECFMG certified?? Where is it??

thanks sabio. So, as per what you say, I can apply to the programs on Sep 25th itself and mention that I am ECFMG certified, without waiting for the papers to arrive. right?
or do I have to wait for it to write the date on myeras?

Yes. That's right.
You don't need to wait for the paper. Just say yes you are certified and that the date of issue is October 2013. Then don't ask for the day, just month and year.

That used to be a question in ERAS profile section. I am not sure if they have removed it this year. I looked at the official ERAS worksheet https://www.aamc.org/download/139512/data/worksheet.pdf and I could not find it.
If this is true. Then there is no problem at all of the whole story of being ECFMG certified or not. There is no way the programs would know if it is not mentioned in ERAS profile, this makes the whole issue invalid I guess, somebody please correct me if am wrong.

People you mentioned had their credentials verified that only means that ecfmg verified they are graduated from a medical school.
To get the ecfmg certification you need to both have your credential verified and your steps cleared.

hello All,

I am confused about the verification process. when you say 'ALL OF YOUR MED SCHOOL credentials verified', is this any different from the vefification that happens before the applying for STEP1 or step2 CK.

I am 2012 passout and I gave my step1 and booked a date for step 2 CS and CK in the coming months. before I got the permit to book a date, it took around a week for verification of documents. does this verification count for getting ECFMG certfied?

any clarification is really appriciated. thanks in advance.
