Default can you answer my questions please

Hey all
a friend of mine needs to know sth so I decided to ask here

1- if someone has finished step1, CS, what is the last date to do CK in order to apply for the match ?

2-if someone lets say couldnt apply for 2014 match because he got late in his CK , and wants to apply in 2015 match , so he finishes his CK in january 2014, now will the period between Jan 2014 and matchig date be considered as a gap ? I really dont understand this gap thing

3- when do you have to tell the hospital that you are applying for that you have research experience ? when you apply or during the interviews or what ? like if someone can start reserching in May 2014 , will he have enough time to benefit from this experience for 2015 matching or not

thanks alot and I am really sorry for the inconvenience, waiting for the answers

I think there is a misunderstanding here. You don't have to have any exams done to apply for the match. But if you do this, being an IMG you won't have any chance. So the best thing is to have all steps done, all documents, lors and ecfmg certification up to sept 15th. So you can apply early and have a good chance.

A gap is some space in your CV where you can't explain why you haven't done anything good during this time. So you have to find something to fill this gap, you can have some Unites States Clinical Experience for example. Or research.

On sept 15th you will be able to apply to programs, and for that you have to fill a form at https://www.aamc.org/services/eras/ at that time, you will have the opportunity to write about your experience and everything. You can download a template at this site and see by yourself how that works.

well, if its an obligation what can you do?
and btw I don't think that doing an one year internship would be a gap. I believe it's good actually.
I fell that Program Directors are worried about people that stop everything to study for the steps and don't have any hand on clinical experience for a long time.
