You or the letter writers must submit the letters again and assign them to FM. Otherwise, ERAS will send you a notification. My friend has the same issue. But I do not know the details of the notification. Please ask ERAS.

i doubt this should be a problem. i applied with same letters to internal meds, FM, peds and psych. once in eras post office you just attach them to programs you selected.

Yes, I agree. By the way, did you specify the specialty when uploading the letters?

in 2 i wrote 'all' just because i was confused, in other 2 i did not specify. i really don't think this should be an issue, makes no sense that you have to upload same letter 4 different times just because you can assign it to only one specialty. i hope i am not wrong, because this is how i did it and people who uploaded letters on my behalf and received no notification from myeras.

otherwise- i am screwed...

I'd say you attach them regardeles. I really doubt anybody looks that carefully at what we wrote when finalizing LORs, and I am more inclined to believe that they actually read letters, since it will be printed and presented to program directors as a file or whatever.
mines were not specified only because i did not see the point of uploading 4 of the same letters, i just wrote 'all' and in 2 i did not specify at all. but i don't know what my letter writers did...I am pretty sure they did not upload 4 versions since they had only one lor's id. and nobody asked me anyways.

Thanks for the update, Poonam! Sorry for causing you the confusion. My friend did not specify the specialty but the content of the letter did. Therefore he was notified by ERAS that he should not send the letter to other specialties. It seems people at ERAS read the content of the letters as well to help us double check the compatibility.
Good luck!

Default shoul be ok

if the letter did not specify as "I recommend this person strongly for internal medicine program, she/he will be a great asset in internal medicine...etc"

If the letter did not specify what field it should be ok

but I heard that applying to multiple specialties at same place is not recommended in case they may catch you...

and what would applying for different specialties within same institution say about you, exactly? i doubt it sends wrong message. if we assume that PDs are so dumb to think LOR are exclusively written for them and that we are applying for one, and only one specialty, than ok, that might hurt us.
but it is so far fetched concept for me, i doubt this can be true. besides, i think interview should be our strongest point.
