Unhappy No Interviews Yet!

hi

i am an old grad < 10 years

residency in i.m in own country

scores in 230's,1st attempt, publications +, step 3 not done, lot of research exp in own country

late application on oct 1..no interviews/ack

3 rejections

Is there anything i can do to improve my chances now rather than just waiting for an email

from seniors here, what can be expected in the interview season ahead

I am certain there are lot of people in the same boat with no i.v,s..looking forward to some constructive suggestions as to what can be done now.

thank you

Im on the same boat, not IVs just a handful of rejections (and one "accidental" IV offer yesterday that went out to everyone who applied to the program lol... really careless and disheartening)

I hate it. woke up yesterday and today to rejection emails.

Default losing hope

I'm an old IMG too <10 yrs.
residency in EM outside of US.
low score in step 1.
completed step 3.
2 publications.
currently employed and no break in practice of medicine.
need visa.

applied to total of 267 programs: FM, IM, peds, neuro, and EM.

1 IV so far in a peds program. lots of rejections. around 5 acknowledgments.

I'm losing hope It's already Friday today.

you have great credentials. you should start reviewing for step 3. may be not useful anymore for this match but perhaps helpful for nxt year's match just in case you're not lucky enough to get matched this year.

let's pray harder for next week i hope there would be a break in the series of rejections i've been getting in my inbox since receiving my only IV 1 wk ago.

any red flags in your application? good luck man.. im sure those scores will get recognized by a good program soon!

i think this week is gonna be tough for everyone. i was reading through last years thread and from now till early november the bulk of IM apps are looked at. my inbox is just depressing to look at now... :/

I'm in the same boat also, I applied to 140 prog. my credintials are
232, 235, CS2nd, 13 weeks USCE 3-4 (some programs applied with to with 3 and some with 4) US LOR one is waived, YOG 2011
till now I got 13 rejections
I know cs failure is a red flag but I think I have good score and hands on USCE
I don't know but a friend told me that last year his bulk of IV came from late Oct. to late November.....he even got 2 IV in December and January!!
Any Idea About CS attempts applicant if any got any IV...

wow.. i deff hope your friend is right! todays been so depressing for me with all these rejections at once.

im think if your LORs have commented well about your patient interaction skills, im sure that would help you overcome the attempt! try looking at last years threads. maybe that would give you a better idea... good luck though! i hope you succeed this year!

No.
Interviews will continue to be offered for some time yet. Many programs are only starting the process, and many have to deal with applicants declining their interviews over the coming weeks.

@ medicalbiology,

you cannot quit!!!!

My husband is in the same boat..SOOO DEPRESSING THESE DAYS!

His credentials include 221/208/CS (2)/ graduated 2007

He is a green card holder, and does have USCE; he is MOST interested in Psychiatry and has an upcoming observership in a hospital in January; of course that is too late updating that information on his ERAS application.

Due to right now he is not ECFMG certified because the earliest date he could find is January to retake the exam. So this made him only eligible to a limited number of programs. He applied to Psychiatry and FM but his main focus is on Psychiatry. We have received rejection after rejection from mainly university based programs.

Sometimes we're positive; but when we look at the email inbox it is just so depressing.

What do you guys think of a CS failure coupled with these scores and a match in psychiatry?

I know another red flag is his graduation year

hey hope full just out of curosity ,when was the application date last year because i know for sure that few years ago it used to be 1st sep. so if it was 1st sep last year and most IV calls came in late OCt to early NOV ,then this year IVs will come in even more later than this as we applied 15 days after the last year date

Hi applyer, I think with your profile you have good chances to get interviews. When did your results come in? I would def update programs about your other steps and that you are ECFMG certified (are you certified) ???

How many programs / which did you apply to?
