Curriculum Vitae A "GAP" in CV

Heyz all,

First of all I would like to thank everybody in this awesome forum, from staff to members, for the awesome advice and support.

I need urgent and sincere advice regarding this issue:

I would like to know if someone after graduation did not do any clinical work and sat home for a couple of months in order to prepare for the USMLEs. Will this affect his application for residency; will this be considered a "Gap" in his clinical experience??
Which is more important; having great USMLE scores or NOT having this gap?

A couple of months is not a big deal.

Up to six months is OK.

@Sabio, what if an applicant has been working in a non medical-related job during a 3 year gap. Not everyone has economic means and this process is pricey.

Thanks for any input.
