Question Prematch vs Match Question?

I just have a generic question,

If an applicant accepts a prematch offer at a program then i know he cannot participate in the main Match but after accepting the prematch offer if he still goes and Participate in the NRMP Match for a better program, Can he do that?

Is there any Penalty for that or Can the program who offered prematch Can find out about that? or what are the concenquences of accepting prematch and also participating in the NRMP Main Match?

Any opinion or someone who has been through this before. Would really appreciate your response.

When you accept a prematch, the prematch program will ask you to provide a proof of withdrawing from NRMP before they give you the contract to sign.

So what would be accepted as a proof because on the NRMP website, there is no such thing or do they give you a written formal letter after you withdraw from NRMP and you have to show that to the program. If they dont have anything formal then the program just have to take your word for it i guess?

How about if they dont ask for proof and you go ahead and participate in the NRMP and end up matching to a better program, in that scenario can you tell the program where you prematched that now you will take the other offer and just excuse with them?

They will definitely ask something as documentation that you already withdrew from NRMP. A verbal account of it wont be enough for them. If you have read the terms & conditions of the match, once you violate that, you wont be allowed to apply in the future. Are you willing to take that risk? That's why programs give you enough time to decide if you are asked for a prematch because it is a contract. Once you sign that,you are bound to follow that.

@beejan:

What you are planning (going for a prematch and not honoring it) is very unethical. It is disturbing. Please have a modicum of integrity.

They will ask you to do that, besides Programs have a way to find out what is your status in NRMP and in ERAS.
