Unhappy I have lots of interviews but keep saying dumb stuff

I have 14 interviews but so far I keep messing them up. I say the dumbest things possible and also I haven't been taking enough time to research programs so sometimes I ask stupid irrelevant questions. Like asking heavily about research and fellowships in small community hospitals, asking about their graduates and board score trends when the program is relatively new, saying I want to practice near home when I go to far away hospitals for interviews, messing up my clinical case presentation. I am a native English speaker but I can be kind of retarded socially at times. Not awkward, but just not smart in terms of word choices. What do you think will happen to me?

Lol. I can see why this can happen to someone that doesn't do research not only on programs they're interviewing in, but also on the interview itself. People try to familiarize themselves with almost everything including the program, city, and also the potential questions they may ask, prior to going on the interview. The good thing is that you have a pretty good number of invitations.

On the other hand, I personally appreciate people that don't seem scripted and robotic. I'm sure at least one of them thought you were funny. Many of us can think of a better response or answer in any situation, way after it has taken place. If it isn't too much trouble, can you let us know your credentials?

Thanks.

I'm sure you're exaggerating! I'm the same way when I analyze what I should have said or not said! I'm sure you impressed at least few of interviewers out there! We can not please everyone, I'm sure some of interviewers mentally rolled eyes on you too! It is good that you were yourself and let them know that you suck at case presentation, many physicians do, even experienced ones, so some of them can relate ) !!!
So take a deep breath, relax, keep calm and match on!

What I do in every question I have is to pause for a while, list 3 things I'd like to mention and then start talking, trying not to be too specific and giving a bird's eye view leaving some room to the interviewer ask me more details and make the IV more conversational.. If you rush answering in every question without thinking about it you'll get in trouble.. Also, I have a basic outline for the most common questions like "Tell me about yourself" and "How do you see yourself in ten years" that I adapt a little bit to the philosophy of the program I'm IVing..

Here's a book that really helped me in the beginning..
The Residency Interview
