Question Obtaining a license

Although my question doesn't directly concern current Match, I feel this is the best place to ask.
So, after being ECFMG certified, does this automatically mean that you can get a license to practice medicine. Because I was offered a job after being certified. And I'm not sure if they're informed about the right process. Neither am I.

In order to practice medicine in the United States you should have State Medical License (issued by each State for that State only).

All States require that you finish residency training before you can have the license.

So you can only be licensed after you finish residency. It's not about ECFMG certificate.

There are certain jobs that are advertised for ECFMG certified people. These jobs are by private companies and usually have some clinical component but never licensed practice, like you will never be able to write a prescription for example.

Thank you, Sabio, for your input. This would be kinda medical practice manager job, so maybe we could figure something out, for me to work, without the license. But still, I have other exams to pass first.
Anyway, thanks!

So Sabio, after finishing Step 3, what is my next step for my Match?

I mean, except for the interviews and waiting for the Match results, what else do I need to complete from administrative staff while waiting the Match and the residency? (I am expecting H1B and I was wondering whether there are any other things to do right now)

- should I apply for state medical licence (if yes, which country should I apply for, since I do not know where will I match)

Thanx Sabio
