Question Residency possible with only USMLE Scores!

Hey guys!

I think the title of the thread is pretty self-explanatory!!
What are the chances of getting into a residency program with just the USMLE (Step 1+2)?
And when I say that, I mean really high scores (250+), no publications, no USCE..should I even bother doing the exams?

Possible if you are fresh grad.

Difficult if you are >2-3 years since graduation.

thx for the answer!!
That would be the case!
I'm currently in my 4th year of med school, doing step 1 in august and step 2 at the beginning of my 6th and final year...after that I'd apply.
I'm just thinking about my chances and if it would be worth a try, because it's just a crap load of money and a lot of time I'd have to invest next to my regular uni program and exams..

I'm from germany, it that matters somehow, USCE is almost impossible for me to do.
Volunteer work: no international organizations, only of my homecountry/town and additional work for the Student Union of my University.

Yeah. You have a good chance. Let me change that, you have an excellent chance.

Check the Germany tag link at the bottom of thread for prior USMLE stories in Germany.

With the above case scenario, , is it possible to match in a good program (mid - level) or it's about just getting a residency position ....!!!

*She* had only 6 interview, half were through references. But once you get an IV, it's all about your communication and talking skills. She must've done well and matched in a program I didnt get a call from, despite my months and months of USCE/student electives/research etc etc..

Hi!

My scores are as follows:
231 - Step 1
236 - Step 2 CK
Step 2 CS - to be taken

I hold a Canadian passport and I am a FMG. I have 4 LoRs: 2 from the US (after 8 weeks of cardiology externship) and 2 from home country (one of which is from a board certified doctor; 6 weeks of nephrology internship and 8 weeks of cardiology internship).
This may sound stupid but should I continue with USMLE? I want to match for internal medicine but it is so competitive. My father bears all the expenses and I don't want to burden him anymore.
