Question Shall I go to the interviews?

hello everyone

so guys i need a help with my situation here , i applied for 2014 match and got 3 interviews from desirable programs unfortunately i failed my CS after , so now i don't know what to do ? shall i go to the interviews or not ?
my concerns are:
*Is it too bad to cancel the Interview and they would never send me another the year after ( these programs do not require first attempts)

*I'm going to retake the exam but no way i ll get the results before march so is there any chance i would be ranked if i do not have the results ?

thank u guys ,any input is appreciated

Why would you waste your time and money when you have no chance to be ranked without a CS score by the match? Let someone else get those interview spots.

I agree. Cancel your interviews now and focus on next year's match.

first of all, sorry to hear about your situation , I can imagine the frustration.
my advise to you,go to the interview, nail it & explain to them your situation & whatever reasonable excuse you have for failing the CS & that you will retake it ,if they really liked you may be they'll give you a break .
I disagree with the other guys cause you were given a chance & you'll never know what might happen unless you go for it.you have nothing to lose after all. good luck

Sorry but this is really bad advice. No way you are going to be ranked without a passing CS score. It is way too risky for the program. Why would they match someone into their program with the possibility of the person failing again? They would lose out on a spot when they could have had tons of other competitive people who passed everything. You will be losing your time and money along with the programs and they won't be too happy about it.

this may be true but my point is ,it won't hurt to try , you'll never know what might happen,if he/she can afford going to those interviews, then why not , if he/she didn't match at least he/she will get some experience.
if it was me , I would definitely go ,hoping for a miracle probably cause the chances are slim, but I wouldn't wanna spend a year wondering what could have happened, but again it's a subjective opinion

I agree. If you have the money and time, go for it. Take your CS again asap and pass it. Anything is possible.

If you choose to go to the interviews, explain what happened with your cs exam and see what they say. Yes anything can happen but it's a tough situation nonetheless. Hopefully things will work out in your favor.

there is something you guys seem to have forgotten, you are supposed to have all your scores before the Rank Order List deadline, which is in february i believe, in order to be certified, otherwise you wont be able to participate in the match anyway! or am I wrong?

hey guys i want to update u with my situation ,
so i called 1 program and spoke to the coordinator and i described to her my situation and asked her if they 'd like me to cancel the interview or to go , she told me she would ask the program director and return back to me , then the program director called me and he told me that they still would like to interview me and he was so encouraging and he told me he understand how stupid the cs exam is and it is never an indicator for u to be a good doctor or not , so i decided to go to the interview even if i don't have a chance this year they might like me and offer me another interview and a spot next year !!

Hey, you did the right thing talking to the coordinator and PD.... they are not interested in ur step score but rather how you would fit in... I think you will be a great candidate... you are humble and honest... a great quality.... PDs like you already...

Regarding your CS... you have till june.. and if they are still willing to interview you.. i am sure they will give you the time to take the exam if you match there... Goodluck... remember everything happens for a reason...

Great to hear that. If I were you I would never give up an interview. I would retake CS as soon as you can.
