Calendar Match 2015 IMG Timeline

Hi! I'm a 2012 grad and I just took our local Licensure exam and am now decided to take the MLE before taking up residency here in my country. Recently, I've been speaking with a few classmates of mine (also taking the MLE) which has led me to be confused about my proposed timeline.

Here's my problem: They said I need to finish my step 2 CS by mid May to get into the 2015 Match. Because I planned on taking it on July-August originally. [My timeline: Feb/March-May-July/August respectively for the Steps 1, 2 CS, and 2 CK.]

My question now is: Up to when can I take the step 2 CS in order to get into the 2015 Match? Can I apply for the Match without my step 2 CS score?

Thank you for your time!

they are right you need to wait for the results and dont apply without CS, we are IMG, even if you are rich send me the money or buy me a UW subscription instead.
Apply with all your scores (except step3). Btw another fact, you need to book a seat for the exam 4 months before, the seats are easily filled and you will end up waiting. What about observership/research etc etc? that will take another 3-4 months if you want a strong CV. Do you already have any publications?

My free advice, take it or leave it, your choice.

So that means I can't make the 2015 match if I take my Step 2 CS after mid of May?

I was actually planning on trying to match for 2015 and if failed, build up on my CV prior to matching again on 2016. But if that is the case, then maybe I should be aiming for 2016 match and just spread out my timeline then.

I am lazy so look for when the results will be out on the ecfmg website etc, then plan, but i already gave you the big picture. get some publications and get some research before applying. And please search the forum before posting any more questions, they are all here somewhere, that's how i learned most of these stuffs. most people won't spoon feed you, or even reply.

good luck

Don't you also need the ECFMG certificate to apply to ERAS on September 15th? (or is it September 1st in 2014???)
Because, as far as I know, it takes about 10 business days to have your ECFMG certificate once you have all the Step 1 and Step 2 results. Do you have enough time for all that?

Just sayin'... Maybe I'm wrong...

You can apply to ERAS without ECFMG certification, although it may put you at some disadvantage because some programs require you to be certified. And get your credentials verified and sent to ECFMG now if you have graduated. That takes around a couple of weeks depending on your medical school efficiency. But once that is done, the day you pass all your steps you become ECFMG certified regardless of when you get the physical copy of the certificate.
