Question I rank them 1 and they ranked me 1

Hello doctors!
I would like to ask a question about the match process..
If you rank a program 1 in your ROL and that program ranks your 1.
Does that automatically match you in their program?

Yes. 100% you will match with them in the scenario you mentioned.

In fact, it's 100% you match with them if they ranked you within the available number of positions. For example if they rank you 30 and they take 30 residents then it's also 100% you will match with them if you ranked them first in your list.

Also, there is a very good chance that you will end up matching with them even if they rank you out of the available positions but high enough for example if they ranked you 40 and they take 30. This is because not all those whom they have ranked will end up with them because some applicants rank other programs higher and might end up somewhere else.

Actually in low profile programs who have wrong high expectations (ranked super candidates) might still match you at the end even if you are at the bottom of their ranking list.

Default If I rank a program 2nd and the program ranks me 1st, what will be the results?

Following the question that you answered, I do not have many IVs; among these few IVs, I have two favorates, one community hospital and one university hospital program. The community hospital recruits 15 trainees, and the PD gave me very high evaluation. The university hospital recuits 35 trainees, and only gave me IV in mid-Jan. But I still want to try my luck in the university hospital program. So I am asking if I rank the university program 1st, and the community hospital program 2nd; and the community hospital ranks me 1st, but the university hospital program ranks me low, what will be the results. Can I still get accepted by the community hospital program if I lose the opportunity to the university hosptial program?

Thanks a lot.
