Listening Medical Interpreter...USCE??

So, I've been a medical interpreter for a long time now. I worked throughout med school and after graduation (2010) I've been pursuing that as well. It has caused me to be delayed on my exams since I can't study as much as I'd like.

I now have the opportunity to be an Interpreter at a somewhat prestigious IMG friendly hospital well known to many IMGs and I'm wondering if that will help me in any way or if it counts as USCE since I'll be actively repeating and obtaining patient history and physician and resident questions.

I'd love to get into this hospital, but it's somewhat competitive for me because many of their residents are Caribbean IMG and they prefer recent (2013) YOG.

What do you guys think?

Thanks.

It's an excellent opportunity for you to make connections and to prove yourself. Although, it's not a typical USCE but the fact that you are working hard and the medical field will go a long way and PDs and attendings will appreciate you.

Give it your best shot and am sure you can get in.

It is not considerar USCE, but you can add it as work experience in your CV, and it can be a extremely valuable skill, specially if you apply to programs with a patient population that speak the language

It is not considered USCE but who needs USCE when you have an opportunity to make connections? Its your networking skills who will get you into residency, and not USCE.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my queries and for giving your input. Very much appreciated.

Good luck with this oh-so-very hectic process. They really make us jump through hoops.
