Default USCE

Hey guys! I know this is a very stressful period for all of you, but was thinking if you could guide other students for next year's match..Are externships (at private clinics or hospitals) useful at all? Bcz i know most of the programs need USCE..Do these rotations count as USCE? Im already a graduate, so cannot do electives; Is there anything else i can do instead..Any help is appreciated..Thank you and good luck with the match!!

Default externships and research

Hi there! Externships are great but I would advise against a private clinic. A hospital, especially one that is university-based is valued more. Also, a research fellowship in the specialty you want to get into will add value to your CV. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot..But is it possible to get into hospitals like that? I have been trying for the past few months, but nothing is working out.

It's very difficult without connections unfortunately, especially for FMG/IMGs. I work for an organization that helps FMG/IMGs get paid-research fellowships at university-based ACGME Accredited programs. This can eventually lead to residency if the facility feels you are capable. Message me if you have anymore questions!
