Info SOAP details and procedure

Hey guys,

Considering how tough this year's match process has been, I just want to make sure I am completely prepared come what may! I am trying to find out everything I can about the details of the SOAP process. I have read what ever is available on the NRMP website. But there are a few questions that are still unanswered.

To start with. How do we research about the programs that we chose to apply for soap? Does the consensus by which the program directors chose to take in applicants change for the SOAP process or does it stay the same? Either ways how can we find out what are the best places to apply to? If we can find out about them at all.
And to just sum it up. Is there anything that we can do that will increase our chances for getting a position?

Would really appreciate it if anyone can give out any information about these questions?

Thanks ppl and good luck to everyone!

There is very limited amount of programs in soap... you can look up the program info on freida... Soap is more in the favour of AMGs who did not match... then they look at IMGs. There will be close to a 1000 spots, alot of them will be prelim surgery.

Makesure all you PS are polished/updated and uploaded in ERAS before hand.

You can update your personal statement but once submitted the app to the program, they might not look at it again... even though it will show up to them as updated.

But for the soap you can create a new one and when you resubmit for soap you can add the new ps...You can have as many Ps as you wish eras..

Application is locked, you need to put all the updates in the personal statement.

So for SOAP, can we use the letters from the specialities that we applied for in the main match?? As there s no way we can get new LOR s for the specialities that we want to apply for in SOAP.

In short if I have internal medicine letters, can I use them when I apply for prelim surg or peds or vice versa in SOAP??

Thanks and good luck!!!

I think not only we can use LORs from main match, we have no other choice!
