Listening Do I have hope?

So after many years of off and on study, I passed usmle step 1 with 227..Its not good i know. But i think it was the maximum i could achieve. I had a family to afford along with that. I am 2008 graduate from Pakistan. Please advise me should i continue or not?
Only positive for me is that i have green card and some contacts in USA who can get me some interviews. But of course you cant dwell on them. I am open to any residency including IM, FM, peds etc.
Some things I cant fix is my year of graduation. I will prefer IM by the way. I am going to start externship in Boston soon.

We have same profile; 2008 graduate, GC holder, have a family to cater for but you have a better step 1 result than mine though my ck was ok.
I secured 5 IVs in IM & anesthesiology so I don't see why you can't.

Well done for getting through Step 1!

227 is not a bad score (and it sounds like you did your best with your situation). There's definitely other positives too as you've pointed out like greencard and contacts. Have you been in clinical or research work since 2008?

To make sure that you get a good number of interviews at the end of all of your effort:
Apart from scoring as high as you can on Step 2CK, you may want to think now about taking a good look at what your application packet will look like to make yourself a strong candidate. Your may know that selection to programs depend on a variety of factors - like strong LOR's and personal statement, apart from your scores. There's other things involved in getting selected for interviews too (eg. making yourself stand out by doing some volunteer work or publishing). Scores are really only part of the equation, as you probably know already.

I can't quite advise you to continue or quit from commenting on your post, but I hope that helps.
