Default Fresh Graduate without USCE ? any chance

hey
I am medical student who will be graduating in 2015 , hopefully by June 2015 I will be finished with all my steps !
I have a little concern, I have applied to some universities for an elective but still got zero responses and looks like I will have no chance of doing any USCE

now my question is that if I get good scores in steps and I apply for 2016 match without USCE , is there any chance ? did anyone get matched or get interviews without USCE ?

it is a bit concern for me so any income will be great from u guys

GOOD LUCK

Have you given step 1 ? that can help with getting electives..
people without USCE match if they have decent scores..but let me tell you I made the same mistake, I tried for electives before giving step 1, wasted a lot of time..you will graduate in june 2015 which means you can try looking for electives till then..nothing in USMLE should be taken for granted..do the best you can to get electives and aim for 240 + scores as the match has become a very competitive process...so right now, dont give up..!! keep trying..and if possible give step 1
all the best

unfortunately I can not give step 1 before deadlines of applying for electives

I would be happy to hear from someone who did not have USCE that he got interviews and was matched .. will give me self-relief

Anyway I will try my luck , if it works then thanks god and if it does not then thats my destiny

Thank you for you reply

Relax my man! Several people have matched without USCE. I know lots of them.

It is possible but it is very difficult since most IMGs these days have some sort of USCE and a growing number of residency programs are applying the USCE filter. Why not try doing an observership or research. Although, these are inferior to externships, they wont cost you money most of the time except for your living expenses and housing of course.

you know USCE has become important these days..not to forget that your step scores and CS come first no matter how much USCE or research you have..i would recommend you to try hard for electives..research and observerships can be done anytime after you graduate..i am stressing on electives because honestly no PD cares about observerships..research maybe a little and thats not absolutely essential either but if you have a profile like 240 plus in both steps and 3 months electives you will be at a much better position than anyone who has done 6 months research or observership..
all the best
