Default Canadian graduate in US match

I am currently a fourth year medical student at Dalhousie University in Canada. I am planning to apply for 2015 US residency match.

My step 1 is 230 and step 2 is 242. I do not have any research publications and did not do any electives in the states during my fourth year.

I am aiming to get into pediatrics residency program in the states. I need a visa, preferably a H1B.

Can anyone tell me what are my chances of getting into pediatrics? Do canadian graduates stand a better chance compared to IMG? I know we don't have as good as chance as american graduate.

Thank you

You should have no issues... Canadian medical graduates are looked at essentially equivalent to AMGs... (I dont know who told you Canadian graduates are looked less favourably than AMGs) Your scores make you quite competitive for university programs. For the H1B, you'll need to pass your step III. There are certain areas you may not be able to apply such as Cali without a SSN (not SIN) other than that, you should have zero issues. Best of luck.

MOST IMPORTANT: Check out Freida for whether or not the program you will apply to offer H1B..
