Default Missed the match last year, applying this year, will YOG be an issue?

I have 234 in my step 1 passed CS, CK due in june all 1st attempt. I graduated in 2013 I wanted to apply for match but missed it! So I dropped a year now I am studying for step 2 ck, I have 1 month observership in Tufts medical and thats it, but I have 4 months electives done at a University and 3 LORs from US physicians. No research.
Is my year of unemployment going to do me harm and is it considered a "gap" in my medical training? I have nothing planned except for the observership which is only a month and studying for step 2 :/ Please help!

Perhaps you can get involved in some scholarly activities such as research to help fill the gap... ask around... Tuft being a pretty big academic center.. I'm sure there is research happening everywhere. Maybe also contemplate taking your step III??? Just keep yourself as busy as you can until interview season so you'll have a good answer when they ask what you have been doing since graduation. Best of luck with your step II results.

I have an attachment in my hometown kind of like an observership, it was done for about 6 months. Besides that I have volunteer experience etc in the US. Should this be enough? I have been asking around for research but it's really tough to get into :-(
Also do they really ask what you have been up to if you apply just over a yr after graduation? I thought they ask you that for old graduates ?! I'm starting to panic :-/
