What happens now?
Does the program send you a contract or what?
I wonder how to start visa process

Who initiates first contact?

I see the question has been asked but I am wondering who should start the communication?

The program I matched would have known I'm matched for about two hours now but no word.
Should I be the one to call or email first and then what exactly should I leave out of the first communication?

Kinda confused!

Has anyone heard back from their programs?

I have left a message with the Residency coordinator and sent an initial email thanking them for the opportunity but no response :(

Am I getting too restless?

I need visa and the bureaucracy in my country means I should start things as early as possible.

Please, help me out here with how it's going for any of you.

Thanks.

My program initiated the contact. They will guide you step by step, you just follow it to the letter. Maybe they are just compiling everything together. Give it a day or so.

My program initiated contact on Wednesday.

However, they are not guiding me. They are just sending me mail after mail to do impossible things.
1. Get an SSN on a temporary visa before they will send me the contract.
2. Send them the Statement of Need from my government before they start processing my DS2019 for J1 visa. DS2019 is required by my Ministry of Health to issue an SON.
3. Submit all paperwork for state licencing in 10 days when they require multiple documents to be sent from my med school.

The excitement of having made it through the Match against all odds has been replaced by terror that I may not be able to secure a visa on time.

I am so scared right now and so lost. :scared::eek:

Don't worry. Just start with the process. If you are having trouble, just ask your program for the next step. They deal with the process every year, I am sure they will help you with it.

Got the SON.
It was confusing and a frustrating encounter with the Bureaucracy but it's in hand now and DS-2019 not far behind.

Anywhere here facing/faced the problem of moving pet/ parts of household internationally?
Will appreciate any inputs.

Thanks.
