Default Observerships/ Research In Bay area.

hello.

Please anybody can guide me how to find observerships or volunteer research work in Bay area, California. I am ecfmg certified and I have also received my PTAL. I hear its next to impossible to find any observerships here since externships are illegal here.

can somebody please guide me as to what can i do while I wait to apply for match 2015. I dont have any previous USCE and i am desperate to do something here.

Any kind of help/guidance will be appreciated. thanks.

Hi saba ali, not sure if you are still doing the match, I just finished a 4 week paid externship at Dr. Roger Washington's Clinic. I have found it really useful. He's a Stanford graduate and has lots of experience in teaching. If you are interested I can give you more information.

By the way, it's not illegal to do externships in California. It is illegal to hire externs to 'practice medicine', which means no examining patients and managing patients without direct instructions from licensed doctor. However, It is completely legal to have externs assist in a doctor's clinic.
