Default Help! Applying both for H1 and J1- Canadian IMG

Hi guys,

Due to H-1b cap issues, can we apply both for H-1b and J-1 at same time to be on the safe side ? Will applying for both H-1b and J-1 at same time affect H1-b chances of approval in any way? I'm Canadian IMG.

Sabio, Steptaker, anyone, please advise!

Default the most honest advice: STAY AT YOUR COUNTRY!

The most honest advice for those IMGs:

stay at your country of your GREED here!

There are more than enough trouble for US-FMGs who live here and need a stable life to get the job from this GREEDY CHAOTIC MONOPOLY system!

US-FMGs do not need more of those hypocrisy IMGs who think they are better because their higher USMLE scores!

try to get YOUR OWN VISA AND BECOME US CITIZEN OR GREEN CARD rather than abusing and taking advantage on this GREEDY system, and SEE WHO ARE TRULY MORE TALENTED/KNOWLEDGEABLE/INTELLIGENCE and MORAL VALUES TO BE ABLE TO COME HERE LEGALLY BECOME US CITIZENS BY THEMSELVES, THEIR OWN EXPENSES!

that is the HARDEST EXAMINATION you need to take in REAL LIFE !

STOP ALL THE HYPOCRISY AND GREED !

Hey, I dont think you can apply for H1b and J1 at the same time. The two visa categories are different from each other and have different requirements. You can not switch from one to another either. Have you already matched into a program? The program ultimately decides which visa they offer, you'll be lucky to get an H1b now days. You cant apply for the visas yourself.

The program was initially offering J-1 but it was only recently that they decided to offer H1 as well. I have already started working on relevant documents for DS 2019 processing. Is it too late to go ahead with H1 now? especially with DS 2019 processing in pipeline?

That, I can not be sure about. It maybe that if u file for both visas you might get the one thats most desirable (H1, in your case). Do you meet the required criteria for H1b? If so, I would go ahead and apply. Whats the worst that could happen? it gets turned down. So be it.
