Question neurology fellowship

Hi,
I want to ask if I want to do my fellowship in neurology in America
And I have completed my neurology residency program in my home country
Do I have to do the USMLE steps ??
If not , are there any other exams needed to be done ??

I want to add that my sponsor will send me to complete my fellowship

Thank you very much

Neurology is a fellowship in the US, you need to complete one year of ACGME accredited training program before starting. Is not a fellowship.

There is no "Neurology fellowship" in US. Neurology is a separate residency. You can do neurology residency in US and then a fellowship in some sub speciality like MS, epilepsy, stroke, neurocritical care etc. But you have to take USMLE for that.

you have to take the usmle in order to touch patients and get a fellowship in MS. Fellowships are paid positions. Look at the diffrent programmes and see the requirements. if you do not want to stay in the US afterwards and get back to your country, you may go for observership to a neurology clinic close to an Md with experience on epilepsy for example. You will not touch patients, you will not be certified in the specialty, but you will get experience. I know many doctors doing this and selling the observership as subspecialty. So, you don't have to take the steps. ii don't say this is right, but it is a choice.
