Listening IMG+207 in step1+research experience do I still have hope?

I am an IMG that graduated in 2007.
I just received my score for step 1 and I'm not happy at all. I was aiming 230 but instead got 207. My Uworld scores were around 75-80%.
I can't do anything now. I have this score, plus a failed attempt in 2008. In addition I have a MS in Microbiology and Molecular Biology here in U.S. with 2 publications and one more coming with 3 years of research experience. My thesis work had received 2 awards from my college. I'm aiming for FM or Pediatrics.
I need an honest opinion, I don't want to waste my time and take CK and CS if I don't have possibilities to get into residency.
If you think I can continue what else I need to improve/add so I can have an opportunity.
Any opinion and suggestion is welcome.

It's tough to say. Your MS in Molecular Bio and publications are definitely bonuses, but you still have not given CK or CS. It's difficult to say whether you will succeed in getting residency, but given the low-score and a failed attempt + YOG almost 8 years ago will make it very very difficult. Your application will simply get filtered from most programs. I would personally recommend against pursuing residency given the kind of competition there is out there, but if you are determined then don't let anyone tell you otherwise and focus on pursuing residency. Be open minded about a high chance of failure. Keep in mind there is much energy, motivation and finance expenditure required from IMGs with good USMLE scores, so it will be double that for you. Whether you want to go through with it is a choice ultimately you will have to make. I'm sorry if it seems harsh, but I don't want to give you false hopes. All this is my opinion, in your best interest - you can ignore it completely if you like. Wish you best of luck.

Thanks For your comment drsaid. I'm still looking around and plan to get plenty of advice before I take any decision.
If you dont mine me asking, did you already match? Are you planning to? Can you share your experience. Thanks.

Default you have one more running for the same spot

Thank you steps to residency and abdo2014.
I spoke with some people involved in the field that have experience in cases like mine. After all that, they suggested me to take ck and cs. Of course a high competitive residency program isn't a possibility for me anymore but primary care still is. I need to focus in pass this time with a better score in ck and get clinical experience, thank God there are people that honestly try to help you. Another plus according to steps to residency is that I'm an american citizen.
It is difficult to say what is going to happen, but I'll try my best and see what happen. I'll post in the future again to tell you my experience and to honestly help who needs it.
