Listening IM versus IM/Ped versus Ped

Hello again. What's the advantage of doing IM/Ped versus just IM or Ped? I mean, for the future, would they hire somebody with IM/Ped experience first or is it better to stick to IM or Ped?!
Sorry about the confusion but I'd never seen a combined IM/Ped specialty before so I'm kind of lost with this concept. To me it's sounds like General Medicine minus the surgical part.

IM residency does not prepare you to deal with children while IM/Peds does.
IM/Peds grads usually go to either family practice or hospitalist jobs.

Some of them end up doing only peds or only IM.

Is it relatively more competitive to get into this kind of program comparing to the regular one ? I am still considering both specialty so I think it's a good idea to apply to this program.

I am not sure, but I think it's a little bit more competitive than the peds only or IM only programs.

Is there any limitation when applying to a fellowship? Or in the other hand is a plus?

On the contrary, it opens up more fellowship opportunities for you.
