Default step1 ;87 step2;86; what is the chance of getting a surgical residency position

Step1 ;87 step2;86; ECFMG certification +ve; what is the chance of getting a surgical residency position; I took exam in 2006; I plan to apply residency this year; Is my score still valid;
I wish to apply general surgery; what is my chance? Can I retake Step 1 &2 for a better score??

very unlikely. those scores are pretty low for I.M standards also. Dont know if you can take the exams again.

You can do a lot, research, externships, etc. If you can manage to get on a research project thats worth its salt and through it you can impress some individuals in the right places, you could match even with the mediocre scores in the USMLE. Whether such pattern of luck will favour you is unknown, but realistically speaking, chances are very low. You can try though - but considering the amount of energy & monetary expenditure required from you resulting in no success ultimately should be a factor worth considering. Alternatively, you can try for a speciality that's not as competitive as surgery. Psych, Pathology? Just suggesting. This is my advice, feel free to ignore it if you like.

Try for the highest possible score, of course. That's all you can do, is try your best and hope you score as high as you are capable of scoring. Thats what everyone aims to do in USMLE exams and you should too.
