Default how hard it is to get IM residency in EMORY - ATLANTA ???!!

If you have 2 strong LORs in EMORY hospital and lets say average score of step 1 and 2(225) , how hard it is for an IMG (less than 2 yrs of graduation , 25 yrs old , with 6 month rotation in internal medicine in eu , 2 months in USA and with one international congress attendence of IM certified by a doctor here in USA) ??? I dont know if i could dream for emory or better apply in a program in NY???!!

in my understanding Emory is a big shot place, but everything is possible when you have certain connections. you definitely have to apply to as many programs as you can afford financially, just to be on the safer side.

I will apply in too many programs , including FM also because since the first week i came in usa i started rotating in FM and I already have a strong LORs of FM also i have been working as a FM doctor in EU for 8 months , but you know internal medicine has much more opportunity thats why I am not decided yet in which way to run !!

close to none! only and that is 'if', you have incredible nice connection there.
look up their residents, close to none are IMGs and they worked for some big bosses before.
avoid!

one of the best way to have a successful application, is being mobile. Specially as an IMG, if you are focus in one state, in one city or even worse in one hospital, your chance to match is going to be minimum

Well, Emory has the advantage of being a huge program and their workload is massive, making it a little bit less attractive to the very top AOA AMGs.

So, if you make your contacts work, by sending emails and making phone calls to the PDs, you'll have a good chance of being called (don't mind about your scores). However, this doesn't necessarily mean you'll be ranked to match, that's a different story! The IMGs that I know that matched at Emory, matched at first at the prelim year and afterwards they were accepted to the categorical after some of their categorical residents withdrawn/changed specialties etc.

When I interviewed at Mayo it was very similar, they recommended the IMGs they invited (mostly the ones who performed well in an elective there and got high scores>240) to also apply for their prelim spots, because they almost always give preference to AMGs for the categorical. Nonetheless, I think ranking the prelim high is risky business, so I ranked the cat program very high although my chances were slim and the prelim was at the botton of my list just in case!
