Resident Information about residency

Hello Friends!
I am planning my residency but I need some info please.

1. How is the work as a resident?
2. How many hours a resident work a day?
3. Is it 7/7?

Please tell me that for sure anyone.

I am not sure if you are talking about residency in america, given that your profile says that aren't done with any of the steps !

Anyway, if you are really asking about american residency, then the work load differs from program to program but generally it is in the range of 60 -70 work hours / week for PGY 1 positions .. a little bet less in PGY 2 and 3 .. this corespondents to about 10 hours per day + one or two call nights ( tell 10 pm ) .. many programs require you to work 6 days per week with one golden weekend per month where you have 2 days off!

this works with most programs that have what they called a night float month where you spend a month in night shifts every day ( usually in PGY 2 ) ... if the program doesn't have this system then you'll be required to do a full nigth shift once or twice a week

this off course is about IM resident .. Surgery resident have more stressed schedule ..

I was talking for US only. I'm planning before starting.
I'll apply mainly internal med, diagn med, paeds.
The work shift will be more or less same.
