Help non-medical observership

Hello wise peers of mine,
I fortunately got a chance to do a "non-medical observership" at a medical university at transitional year residency program. While the name is self explanatory and of course I dont get to touch a patient. still I am curious , has any of you out there have done one like this? If yes, how much impact would it have on my application process? any other input would mean a lot to me.Thanks in advance.

PS: I wrote fortunate , cause based on the circumstances , this is the best thing that happened to me so far .

in my experience observership is helpful if u receive LOR, if u r 1st or 2nd year med student then its ok, but US externship rotation is best on application... u get hands on experience
