So I was interviewing at GBMC today, so to defend the PC, let me say she was quite pre-occupied with the applicants and organizing our interviews, meals, making sure we were comfortable etc. Plus they're on the web-based ERAS software, and we've seen this whole season that programs are having starting trouble with that.

Another program did the same for pediatrics a month ago I believe. Gotta take it on the chin and move on. Don't think it calls for unwarranted criticism. As Mimaem said above, mistakes happen, and all it takes is a mistaken click for something like this to happen.

I am running low of options with just 2 ivs in hand
P.S - I already emailed most of the programs with no response.

Honestly, I am in a similar situation. I contacted a lot of programs with no response. Calling the Programs directly does not help in most of cases (unless you are lucky to find someone who is cooperative). Coordinators seem unresponsive. I was disappointed by the way few coordinators responded and made me really feel like shittt

I stopped the phones for me.

My best advise to to try another round of emails (or phones if you like) later next month and in January when people start cancelling their ivs.

Yeah I interviewed there as well. But that day, every applicant was interviewed by two faculty members while PD just gave a small talk regarding the program and did not take any interviews.

Well, I see why you defend for PC (GBMC) coz you were treated very well. I am sure PC (GBMC) he/she would be a very nice/an organized person. I am not complaining or talking about it. I accept that everyone can make mistakes unwillingly or unintentionally throughout their lives. Today it was just technical errors. Honestly, I didnít apply to GBMC. A friend of mine (roommate) applied there and that was her first IV email. She was so happy and excited when she got the email. She thought that God gave her a chance at last, called her mom and shared her happiness. An hour later, she got error email. That hits her very badly. She already feels depressing these days. She thought that her only hope.

If you already have an IV or IVs, that wonít be a big deal. But what if this was your first hope, how would you feel? Well, things happened in life. The only thing that I can console her is that itís not the end of the world. Keep crossing fingers for Good Luck! Best wishes to you all.

Dude, they have a new PD coming from Pittsburgh, so I don't know.. Usually, 2 interviewers, interestingly, they were not very familiarized with my app, since they seemed to be reviewing it by the time I got there.. So, they appreciated the fact that I brought a printed version of my resumť in a concise way, along w/ a cover letter w/ the highlights of my app.. This was the only place where they kind of valued it.. Otherwise, it's pretty low pressure, there's a tour and the facilities are truly impressive. They don't have a dinner, just a lunch at the intercontinental hotel restaurant which was the best interview lunch I've ever had.. Also, they gave a kind of fancy CCF notebook w/ an organizer, instead of that paper crap other programs give..

Hi guys,

I just received a FAKE interview. Today is Nov 21st. MetroWest Hospital in MA sent me an email confirming my interview on November Friday, 7th.

For a second I was happy then when I saw Nov 7th, I knew it was mistake. I called the bich, she said "sorry I did not do anything"!

How f u c k i n g sweet Friday!

Thanks! You are talking about last year right? I know the PD changed this year, I hope it goes well. Were there any medical questions?

Another program did the same for pediatrics a month ago I believe. Gotta take it on the chin and move on. Don't think it calls for unwarranted criticism. As Mimaem said above, mistakes happen, and all it takes is a mistaken click for something like this to happen.
rohit can you share your experience at GBMC.. any clinical questions or interesting case asked??

It's a relaxed interview (like most other interviews). I interviewed with the PD and associate PD separately. PD will mostly give you a clinical scenario, but it isn't your routine medical question. It's very interesting and engaging, and he just wants to see how you think and work out stuff. I'm not going to give specifics though. Interview with associate PD was your typical conversational interview.

Raritan Bay> Supposedly, detailed pimp session galore, not very personable.

Default University New Mexico

Did anyone else get the impression that the University New Mexico was really pushing a liberal agenda. I liked the program but a few of the residents I spoke with said positive things about the program were things like they were open minded and liberal, not like Republicans, closed minded conservatives, etc. A few identified as very liberal. I have people that are close to me that are pretty liberal and I don't have a problem working with them or anything of the type, but I'm pretty conservative and they gave me the impression that they were so open minded they knew they were right and that people that didn't share their views were wrong. It was like they were anti-conservative. I'm worried they would have problem with me. Did anyone else have that experience or do you think I was just unlucky? I haven't had that type of experience at any other place.

Seems like people are still getting IV invites, good on y'all

Anyway, here's a little question.

So I know it is common courtesy to send a thank you note to anyone who has interviewed you, and there's a very nice website on how to do it - https://career.ucsf.edu/sites/career...ethankyou1.pdf

However, would you reply to a reply to your thank you note? Do you think it would seem like overkill?

Next day or two. Do not send a thanks email right after interview on same day (few people did that ironically). Also important to follow up on them a second time (before the match start) and send them another email indicating your interest in the program and try to let me know you are ranking them high (whether directly or indirectly)!

I have low hopes this year but I am definitely happy because I still have low chances. Good luck to you bro!

How important is the Meet and Greet Evening before the Main Interview day? Should one go or skip it? What do people talk about? Are they evaluating the candidates there too?

Default Anyone knows about Englewood Hospital IM residency?

Is it good? I want to do cardiology but I noticed they only managed to secure one spot for their alumni in the last several years.

Hi anyone on here have an IV with Mayo Clinic Rochester on Jan 16th and would like to swap with 18th Dec?

Till wait listed for Jan 16th but 18th Dec is a really bad time for me ): Not sure what to do.

Would contacting the program co-ordinator be of any help despite them using interview broker?

Thanks!

Default UConn and UConn New Britain

Hey everyone, I have received interviews from both UConn (Categorical) and UConn New Britain (Primary Care) programs which are on Jan 7th and 9th respectively. I was wondering if the programs cross communicate because both the IVs happen in the same premises. Do you think its risky to attend both of them. I am confused.

Is anyone else in the same boat??

Thanks in advance!!!

They're participating in the match, no prematch offers. U will have 2 iv, one with pd and other with any faculty member. There will be 4 to 5 faculty members who take iv and they do ask med q but i was lucky because the faculty with whom I was interviewed just asked general questions. They can present u a case n want to know how u will deal with it.
The day will be a typical iv day: breakfast followed by iv, meanwhile u need to fill some papers .... followed by tour and lunch and noon meeting ... chief resident will be with you ppl all the time n u can ask as many q as u want.
Keep a copy of your documents submitted to eras u will be needing them when u are filling out the forms which they will give you... esp of ecfmg certificate and visa... u need to submit it with the form.

Best of luck

Default Quick Question

Hello fellow doctors,

I had a quick question about your IV experience at LSU Shreveport for IM, mainly if they ask/asked any med questions during the IV and some input on how the program was.

Any input is much appreciated and thanks in advance!

I interviewed there already and I did not encounter any med questions. It is a great program! Good luck!

Off note, I got an interview at University of Tennessee- Memphis

Is it really essential to write a thank you note after the interview. What if you did not get the email address of the interviewer and you are already a late week?

Hello doctors. I hope everyone is having a good interview season. Has anybody interviewed at Abington Memorial or Nassau University for IM? I would really appreciate it if you could share some of your experience there. Any input would be really appreciated.

Congrats!

May I ask, because I'm a 2010 grad applying next year with lower scores than yours (230+), have you had a difficult time because of YOG? Did you do post grad training in another country? Also, since you come from experience, what can you say about the YOG cut off point- is it at the time of application or start of residency?

Thanks for updating us on your invites.

I have to admit yes. Some program just don't look at your application if your YOG > 5 years. But it also depends on what have you been doing since graduation. Whether you have research/meaningful clinical activity. Generally the univ program will not even bother unless you have signif training/res/pubs.

Did you do post grad training in another country?
No, but it will be helpful a lot if you have it

Also, since you come from experience, what can you say about the YOG cut off point- is it at the time of application or start of residency?
I called several programs. Some count it to the year you apply. Some count it to the year you start residency as with this program.

Thanks for updating us on your invites.
Thanks!

Any imput/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You finished residency at home country? That IS significant postgraduate training. I think it's a good leverage for you. You can see some people here have that profile and they got IV from good places. If I'm not mistaken rfmd, Vero both had stellar scores and some degree of postgrad training.

Hi, thanks alot for the reply. The problem is my training was in obs and gyn. I'm thinking of IM since it's easier. Do you think my scores coupled with the green card will suffice for enough interviews to be reasonably certain of matching??

Do you like obgyn? I think you have a good chance to get to that specialty. Great scores. Previous training. If you want to switch specialty you need to have good reasoning and convince the IM people that you are really passionate about it. Score wise I'd say you are competitive.
