I uploaded my first unwaived LOR yesterday ...do i have to wait two weeks to asign this letter to a Program . Is it always two weeks or only the ones we upload ourselves .
Thanks for the help
I was under the impression that once you upload the LoR it takes 2 weeks to process and then you can assign it to any program. I dont think they process it separately for each program

Track your LORS and y will see that unwaived ones are already on eras office as soon as y upload them while the waived ones uploaded by others are still in processing

Default " LOR Author Title".

please help me with what to write exactly in " LOR Author Title". Do I simply write M.D? if he has a Ph.D, do I write what specialty he got it from? eg Ph.D Cardiology? I got this LOR from a doctor in a private clinic. Thanks for chipping in!

Hi guys,

This is my status. I just received my step 3 score and it does not look good. How important is the step 3 score for the IM residency? I need honest opinions from all of you. Thanks in advance.

Your step 3 score is great, remember that the average score is 221 so I don't think you've got anything to worry about. On the contrary, having finished your step 3 is an advantage and no one even looks at your score

because there dis not much space to feet in whole department and institution in LOR title, I wrote MD PhD after name of author and wrote department and position in TITLE

I as well going to apply to Internal and here are the credentials:
Step 1 253
Step 2 253
Step 3 planning
USCE 1 year
1 publication
1 research

so far 2 confirmed LORs

When do we ask our schools for MSPE? And is it a requirement?

I think their deadline is October 1st. But to be processed by ecfmg already. I also have to beg my med school for one pretty soon...

Hey guys I'm joining the party a little late. Just got done with CK yesterday.

Just a few quick questions: I already purchased a token. What's the next best thing to do?

1) Start searching programs from FREIDA
2) Start working on personal statement
3) contact LOR writers
4) Start filling out the information on ERAS

Hey guys,

Have you already decided which hospitals you're going to apply to? And assigned LORs to those hospitals?

Also, I don't see a link for uploading a photograph. Where is it? And what kind of photograph does it have to be? A full-face white background photo or anything goes?

I think you can upload it through Oasis eras support services

Good luck!

So I am going on LOR portal from my AAMC account and uploading my first letter wish me luck.

By the way file size should not exceed 500 kb and it can usually be changed while scanning resolution should be 200.
OKay i have fixed one problem now another
"File page cannot exceed a maximum size of 8.5 x 11 inches"

why god why

I applied to those who didn't need ECFMG but still if they have a candidate who is certified they'll take them instead!

The list changes every year. We have to come up with a new one

Although programs do state that ECFMG must be in prior to rank period or prior to starting training.. Did you apply to those that did not require ecfmg prior to application time?

can y please provide me that list if I am not asking for too much. Want to compare with mine.

I wouldn't necessarily stop posting them because there may be people who had the same stats or close to it that have matched in a certain field and can offer advice.

I DO agree that people with 240s and 250s on both exams need to stop posting if they will get into IM or FM

Hey I have a question. Can someone please tell me how do we upload transcript, MPSE and LoR waived and unwaived? I mean I might be dumb but I need to know from the start like scan it as JPEG/PDF then what? About waived LoR i asked the dr I m shadowing to write me one, she said she doesn't know much about waived one but she can do it once I let her know how to upload one for my eras. So I need to know what do I tell her/give link?

Hey

Is failing one year in medical school considered as a red flag for matching ?
Like if someone fails in one year and repeated that year will this be considered as a red flag ?
Do they care alot about your degrees in medical school ?

Good luck!

I uploaded through LOR portal is this incorrect? they are on eras post office already.

And any ideas about USMLE transcript so do we buy it with our first application to program on sept 15?and do we need to upload our CV as document or PDF separately from ERAS application

And any ideas about USMLE transcript so do we buy it with our first application to program on sept 15?and do we need to upload our CV as document or PDF separately from ERAS application
Hi tamta.
1. You did the right thing. Even if you try uploading your letter via OASIS it redirects you to AAMC's LOR Portal.

2. Yes we'll buy the usmle transcripts ilon september 15th when we apply to programs. Basically we authorize eras to send those transcripts to programs.

3. No you don't have to upload your CV in any form. The eras application IS your CV.

GL.

A silly question but just double checking. In medical education tab of eras what should we enter in "dates of attendance"?
Date of joining to date of receiving degree right?.

So i noticed this too. If you compare all the grayed out non clickable links to the list of programs participating in ERAS (link i'll paste below) for the September cycle, you'll notice all grayed out links are programs which are not participating in ERAS (you'll find an "NP" next to the program).

So actually exchanged emails with a program coordinator of one such program, and she assured me that they will be participating in ERAS, and that it was a clerical error of some sort, and that it will get sorted out as September 15th looms nearer.

I'm assuming a lot of those programs are in that phase right now.

https://services.aamc.org/eras/erass...AR&SPEC_CD=140

That's the link of participating programs in ERAS.

Taking your screenshot example, GBMC is not participating in ERAS according to that list. But not sure if that will change later.

I always thought you apply to prelim programs only if you have intentions of pursuing a residency that requires a transitional year, like Radiology or Neurology. I've read on quite a few program websites where they clearly state you apply for the prelim program AND the residency program you eventually want to end up with.

I don't think applying for prelim positions is wise when you really want a categorical IM position.

Yes I agree. Thanks for clarification about GREY programs. I agree most of the reviews about the programs were those that offer Prematches. I got very stressed because all those were very good programs for me. I.e. Bad programs for most of the outside world. I really need those kind of programs and hopefully they will participate.

Default Q for Old IMGs

Guys if you have gone through most of programs there are very few that state clear grad cutoff and most of them say Prefer less than 5. Do you still plan to apply to those while being more than 5 years grad? Cause I came down to around not even 20 programs. while filtering those saying prefer 5, prefer 2 etc..

additionally I also don't have ECFMG certificate.

Just need your opinion. I started second round on programs on My MAR list. and will now start Selecting programs straightly on ERAS. This list making is enormous and chaotic everything starts mixing in my head. and at the and If I want to apply broadly I still should choose those ones saying prefer this prefer that but they don't have strict cutoff

I'd say go for it. A friend of mine was 6 yo grad but she still hit inyo one of the programs they says 4yrs or less. So I'd say choose th number of programs you can apply to and then select that many IMG friendly programs. That should work for you because you have excellent scores nevertheless. Takes can you please advice me how does the writer upload LoR for me? I asked my attending she said she'd do however I like but she hasn't done waived ones before so she'd need me to tell her how to go about it.

hi!!
you should first ask your attending to create an AAMC account , then log in to LORP. And then she can upload your letter using the letter request ID that was created when you finalized the LOR in ERAS. and i think thats it. it takes 2 weeks for it to be uploaded to the post office.

Thank you! I had been asking people but I got no reply! And what about unwaived ones? Do we need to finalize author and upload LoR ourselves after that or there is some other process involved?

Yes you need to finalize each LOR unwaived ones also , then you by yourself with you logged in account go to LOR portal and simply upload the letter you will need to enter the letter ID which is given to you after finalization. Do the unwaived yourself and you will easily teach how to do waived letter to your attending.

Thanks that's encouraging. I do need to apply to those who say they PREFER less than 5 because Otherwise I came up to around 20 programs and this is no good.

Are we sure we don't need to upload CV as a document? Cause lot of programs have it posted on websites together with MSPe, transcript, LORs and ERAs application.

I believe the eras apllication that you fill in is essentially put into the form of a CV. You can check your CV they make out of the information they provided you

I was just telling you in case you missed earlier discussion what people thought is the average number of programs most Imgs apply to. Somewhere between 50-150 so you can say about 100. Then I m asking what's the most suitable number we should apply for regardless of the average rate of 100? I m kinda tired so I wrote a v confusing post above so sorry for that.

As far as I believe it is only attendance so its date of joining to date of last ever exam in your school.

I think it's the date of your internship completion... My internship completed in July 2013 and I got my degree feb 2014 so my last attendance would be 2013 and date if graduation would be 2014😊

I think attendance is the time you attended school so I thought ths is the last day of your school which is actually the last exam day in most cases and degree year is the year on your degree certificate though. Because then thre is a date on your degree and there is another day when there was graduation ceremony so if you go for graduation for attendance, some schools do graduation ceremony like 1-2 years later and it will get confusing to choose dare in degree or the graduation ceremony. Also not all schools require internship before degree. So I would say attendance is until the last day of school you attended or last exam whatever it is. But if your school doesn't give you degree without internship it means your internship is part if your medical education and should be included in attendance. But if internship is required only to get license to practice and doesn't affect receiving of degree, I would say internship shouldn't be included in attendance.

You can put research in experience: where it has separately work and research experience. Or if it does not feet in their put it into accomplishments in MISCELLANEOUS.
ACLS belongs in Certifications down there you can choose PALS and ACLS and certificate expiration dates.

what about publication it gave me so much headache that I decided not to put it in application at all.

You need to have your med school upload them for you, since they participate in the esmwp. sao bottom line is you cant upload what you have, you need to send them to your med school or request new one from them but have them upload it themselves.

Where can you put BLS, PALS or ACLS?? I dont see anywhere to put it. Is it under the licensure information tab?? The certification part is for Board certificates.

I also was reading about these certifications, and if you do them outside the U.S. they are pretty useless. Also since most residency programs will pay for your certification during your training.

What do you guys think? I mean if you have and can put them in your ERAS application, just go for it, it wont hurt. But if you don't have any, would you do them before applying???

You need to go into the letter of recommendation section and go to "track my LORs" link which is down at the bottom. There you can see when it has been finalized (that is you), when was the dean's office notified (i think this means if the LOR author sent it) and when can it be available to send to programs (which is almost instantly if done by the LORP)

ya, I clicked on APPLICANT DOCUMENT TRACK SYSTEM, ( ADTS) in My -eras

Its showing this,

Finalized in My-ERAS---------------------> 07/17/2014 06:10 am

Designated Dean's Office Notifie -------> 07/17/2014 06:10 am

First Available to Programs --------------> 07/18/2014 03:00 pm

Ok dr.jd thanks for reply,,

ERAS support service says that it will take 1- 2 weeks to process the LoRs if we upload the letter through LoRP, but the thing what I noticed is, the day after I finalized my authors, I saw in ADTS that my Lors are first available to program the next day.

my question is how come LoRs will be available to programs with out processing, as for ERAS support service I should see First available to programs 1-2 weeks later right.

confused...

I Finalized authors on---------------> 07/17/2014

Deans of notifed on-----------------> 07/17/2014
same day.

First Available to Programs ---------> 07/18/2014

Kindly waiting for your reply.

thank you.

Default Personal Statement length

Does personal Statement has to be one page in terms of word document with all the side spaces head and bottom spaces? or just int rem of words without considering those spaces.

I think the 1-2 week is just an estimate, but it can get processed quicker. I guess it depends on how many people are uploading documents. I have a LOR uploaded in July and it processed in 1 day. I have one uploaded a few days ago, and it took like 3 days to process. I'm assuming that if you try to upload a LOR in September, near the application time, the processing might take a few weeks.

I had googled and read somewhere it should be in a notepad and not a word document. So you may write it in word doc but the font should be courier new and size 10 then cut and paste it in a notepad and tick the text wrap feature in it. Then save it and print it. If it comes in one page on the printed paper then cut the ps from notepad and paste it in your myeras application.

For someone who asked about where to write about AcLS and PALS, there is an option at the bottom of 'profile' section of myeras. You just have to tick it and mention expiration date. No column of BLS though.

What are you guys doing about personal statement. Who are you asking to proof read? I have written one for IM and one for FM and I have asked a friend who is doing fellowship. She did tell me a few points to improve on it but who else should I ask to read it :/ because i'd be biased about my own ps and only another person can see mistakes/Point of improvements in it. I have many dr friends around working here in us but they're saying they are not really that great with essay writing that they can comment on mine. Are you going for some online evaluation? Or just uploading what you wrote without showing it to anyone? I don't wanna spend $$$ on it!

I plan to go to one of my old English teachers so that he can counsel me on the grammar and redaction which i think is very important. I think my PS is well written, but these guys know a lot more and might give me some interesting feedback. As for the content, its all me.

Anyone want to get together and make a list of programs that don't require ECFMG certification at the time of application?
