Default Planing the trip to the US to visit interviews

Dear colleagues/friends,

I decided to post my 1st thread, because I need some advice from someone more experienced.....Iīll apply for internal medicine residency this season, but
I donīt have the money to buy multiple plane tickets in the last minute to attend interviews. How do you fellow IMGs deal with this? I was thinking about buying a ticket for the 2 busiest interview periods (like 1 month from middle of Nov. and 1 month from middle of January for example). Right now that would be fairly cheap. I then would stay in a cheap appartment and travel within the US for interviews. My problem is that I donīt want to miss any interviews because of not being in US. Do you know what are the tipical times for IMGs to get interviews? How do you deal with such situations?

Iīd be grateful for any advice!
Best wishes!

Please, can a more experienced forum member at least tell me:

a) what is usually the earliest date when IMGs get interviews (Iīve read the majority is after the middle of November, but when where the earliest in the last years)

b) what is the average time between the invitation and the actual interview?

Thanks for the help!

I think it makes sense if you have the time to stay in the US the complete interview season. As most IMG interviews are along the East Coast, e.g. New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, it makes sense to look for a short term lease at the beginning.

Friends of mine stayed for example in a shared apartment in Philly which was relatively cheap and it was easy to reach most IV spots using Megabus, etc.

Looking at threads from previous years, most interviews for IMGs are from October - December, but can be until February.
