Default Buying an ERAS token

Hello everybody,

I wanted to ask whether buying an ERAS token makes you bound to applying to programs and participating in the match. Also, is it mandatory to buy it on July 1, or can we buy it later on as well?

And if we buy a token this year, for example, and decide later on to participate in the subsequent match and not apply to any programs, will we be able to buy one the next year? It won't count as having been a repeat applicant will it?

Sorry if my questions seem mundane. I could not find the answers to my queries

You can buy token each year, whenever you want after July 1 each year. You can purchase and not participate, but it will expire for the current match year. It basically gives you access to ERAS. You won't be counted as repeat because you never submitted applications to programs.
