I got the same one.
It is the polite [poetic lol] expression saying you are NOT impressive [enough].

This is my first application season, to me it looks very very stiff!!

I got the same reply. I guess they do not change the content of the rejection email from year to year.

As I could understand, many programs closed acceptance of applications October 15 and now started filtering by year of graduation, visa status, USMLE scores. So, I believe this week we would get a lot of rejections.

Once they finish filtering, they would make a short list of applicants who they would consider for interview thoroughly. And then after considerations, they would send interview invitations.

So, next few days or even a week would be tough in terms of number of rejections they would send to us.

Default Just wanted to share

Hi Guys,

I have applied to 64 programs.
Got rejection from 7 programs.
1 IV.

I feel nervous about the the number of IV I have. Is there anybody who feel the same. Is Peak time of IVs is over?

Thanks!

I don't think so. My friends (Old IMGs, good CVs, good USMLE scores) in past years got most of their IVs towards late Oct, early Nov.

I know it is nerve wrecking, but stay positive.

I have heard the it would be even later this year because ERAS started to accept applications 15 days later. Additionally, many programs have had problems with software. E.g. some could not download letters of recommendations.

I applied for 48 neurology programs and have also gotten 1 interview and 7 rejections. I also was wary about it but then I started to monitor places that send rejections or interview invitations at this thread. I realize that I might have just couple of more silent rejections from Duke and Northwestern because these places sent IV to other people. Other programs have not sent any rejections or invitations for interview to anyone.

As I told before, I believe that we should have a peak of rejections now after they start filtering of the pools of their applicants. I hope that later we would get a peak of interview invitations.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Most of the programs have started sending IVs for AMG for sure.

[See the last post there]

This makes me nervous, because IV slots must be limited.

Hi folks, I would like to suggest to include to this list not only invitations for interview but also rejections. In this case we would have better idea what is going on inside different programs. I would suggest to include rejections to the general pool at the end of the list. It would make the list less busy. I would include my rejections first. If you have gotten rejections from other places, please update rejections pool.

Based on past experience of friends, I think our best bet is the next 3 weeks, but many of my friends say they received interviews till late november. I had a friend who received IV in January and matched!

I would suggest going even further and creating interview pool. This would help us to understand whether the invitation for the interview was the original one or it is most likely was given to us because someone dropped it. I also arranged interview and rejection pools in alphabetic order to facilitate search. Please update it with your information.

I had some problems with my browser. It was reloaded automatically every 5 min. So, I decided to put the list first and then edited it little by little.

Unfortunately, you could not edit your post once someone replied to it. May be next time it would be a good practice to someone who would update the list to accept personal messages. It would be so much easier to edit than to create a new list once again.

I had a weird communication with Emory University neurology program today. First they sent me an interview invitation and asked for fill, scan and return one form. Later they send the second email in which they explained that I was mistakenly given an interview and told me that they would put me to the waiting list.

Has anyone had any feedback from Emory? Official interview invitation, rejection, or mention about placement to the waiting list?

Thank you in advance for consideration and help.

Shame on them! It is unbelievable.
If they were correct, they would have given you the interview. It was their fault, not yours!

I just asked because I saw it among the rejection list. However, I applied there but I haven't received a rej nor a iv yet.

I have no clue on how the program is, I applied there because it seemed img friendly based on the percentage of do and img among their residents.

I really hope that you get good news from them. Fingers crossed for you!

I included Emory to the rejection list because I consider my case as a rejection. Putting to the waiting list is a rejection.

Me too. Although, they were smart enough to say that they would keep my application on file. But still I think it is pure rejection.

I disagree

Hey guys, is this year exceptionally tough for Neurology matching?

Last year my friends with 'ok' profiles (scores in 220s, little bit research and USCE but nothing outstanding) had received 5+ interviews by now.
And here I see that even some great candidates (scores 250+, PhDs, Masters, Fellows, etc) have hardly 3-4 interviews so far.
And based on last year's experiences, I was expecting 5+ ivs for myself, but I am still sitting with nothing so far!

I know programs faced technical issues with website last month, but still... What do you guys think?

Hi DrGoogle,
As I understand, IV season is not over until 1 month or so. I was in very same situation [Plus Old Grad] except 1 iv few days ago. Hopefully you will get some soon!
We will hang on till the end, together! Keep your spirit up buddy!

I guess besides technical issues we should take into consideration that application season simply started 15 days later. Let's wait 15 more days. I hope we should get more interviews.

I guess so. around 11 am or immediately after lunch. It is a good time for almost all time zones in the US. So, people can email or call immediately and schedule the date of the interview.

Later afternoon or in the evening it is a perfect time to send rejections and go home without answering angry phone calls why with explanations why they removed one or another candidate.

It is in a general American tradition to fire people on Friday afternoon. In this case people would recover over the weekend and won't do bad staff during the day or the day after the announcement.

P.S. I do not like time frame from 3 pm to 5 pm. Only rejections so far for me during this time frame

I think this is a good sign, as it suggests most of programs have just started implementing preliminary filters and they are yet to go through applications in details.

Hi folks,

I have just started another thread called "2015 Internal Medicine Preliminary Year Residency Applicants". You are very welcome to share your experience with IM preliminary year programs as well.

You need pediatrics prelim right? How many programs have you applied to? I think most people here are applying to Adult neuro..

Yes, they sent me 2 acknowledgements and said that they would keep sending acknowledgements every 10 days. They told that they would consider applications one by one manually without applying any filter. Therefore, it would take longer for them to make a decision about IV invites.

I see you guys are visa needed (like me) and Duke clearly stated on its website that they don't sponsor visas! So its obvious to get filtered out at some point.

rejection frm emory

otherwise silent day
another week gone by
without much action
is it the end of interview season??
Seems like its getting slow! I think programs in Texas, Chicago, NY & NJ have not been very active in reviewing yet, so probably there are more to come.

Can you tell what programs you spoke to?

I got news from someone that UTMB and San Antonio are done with interviews. Even though last year average candidates got invited from them, none of us here is invited! :/

I would like to be as optimistic as you guys.
However, it seems that programs are sending ivs for the very last spots on Jan.
Last iv I got from florida this tuesday, they gave me only a date for the very end of Jan.
In addiction, I personally called two programs in ny where I was very interested in going, and I was told that they already filled all their spots.

I think that this year neuro is really harsh. Unfortunatly, ivs are going/ still went? to amgs who this year applied even to very undesirable img friendly programs.

Hope the best for all of us, but I start feeling doubtful.

I called Cornell. They said they have sent IV invites to most of applicants but few are left that would be sent in the next 2-3 weeks.

Did you guys specifically asked programs if they will NOT invite anymore applicants? Because it is obvious they have sent most of their IVs by now.

I contacted Mount Sinai and Langone. I was told both of them filled all spots at the moment.
I didn't ever apply to columbia and cornell. I think I saved money and stress.
