Default residency after failing step 1

i got the score today and i failed . I am really calm and trying to be strong as much as i can !! i am just 1 year from graduation now , i am an img that was trying hard to follow my dream " being a doctor in USA." . To my opinion my mistake was that i rushed , i was trying to get so many things done in the same time ( these are my first 6 months in usa and the feeling of not reaching what i was trying to scared the hell out of me + so many familial reasons) . i am in really young age so postponing my residency application its not going to hurt me at all. My question is : was there anyone in my position that failed step 1 but still found a spot in Family medicine or internal ?? Does this mean that my dream is over or i have to sit and give my last energy to do great. Please anyone that was in my position please give me an advice. Thankyou all , God bless you !

Hey, sorry to hear about your result. I know it can be very disappointing. I know of some people that matched even after failing step 1 but it wasnt easy for them infact it was really really hard. What you can do is do as many electives in FM/IM/psy as you can and find a mentor in one of the schools. Try and publish papers in medicine or psy. Also get an excellent score in all your steps from now on. You may not be able to apply to many programs but you will have a good chance once you land an interview. You will be able to explain to them why you dint do well the first time around. Hope this helps. Good luck and dont give up

I am willing to give the last atom of energy that i have . And i have 1 year experience as a FM doctor in my country , here in USA i have 5 months clinical rotation in a family med center. I hope God will help me and every one in my position. Just wanted to know that my chances are not 0% at all.

Your chances are good if you score well in all the exams now
