Nothing can drop your J1 status but a waiver, even you marry a US citizen you still have to return to your country for 2 years or get a waiver.

Lottery Visa is a green card visa, J1 visa rules does not apply to green card holders, GC holders can do whatever they like and can stay in US indefinitely.

thanks dr.sabio,
but what i meant is if someone is already on J1 visa and during his stay in U.S he has been selected for DV visa lottery. can he then change to GC or still the J1 thingy is sticking ;D

sorry another question too, if instead of doing waiver some one J1 traveled for two years outside the states but not to his own country, will it still be counted?

thanks in advance for ur decent work in this forum

No. J1 visa rule still there.
No. You have to return to your country only

The trick that people from Masr used to do in order to get US citizenship by marrying US girl is no longer effective so what about lottery!.

Hi , I still have a doubt. If a guy during his residency under J1 marries a US citizen then isn't his status goin to change to a GC holder? Hw his J1 status remains as it is?
