hello everyone. this forum helped me a lot in visa process.
so here it goes.
i took a bunch of documents with me incase they want anything i would show them
i had step1 result, step 2 permit, cs letter/schedule/appointment.
bank statements of my father (sponsor)
employment certificates/salary receipts/bank statement (current and previous)
medical school certificates (degree, grades,etc)
hotel booking confirmation at your test centre city
or any other document you feel to support your case..
-be relaxed and confident, nervousness and fear will worsen your chances
-prepare well. sometimes we dont want to share some of our information like financial assetes, personal affairs, i would advise you to share them in an explainable manner and everything must be true dont lie to them ever.i found VO very polite and kind. he gave me enough time to respond to his questions.
your case should make some sense.
MOST IMPORTANT part
-your cs trip is genuine reason to go to US. so be prepared to explain them why its important.
-WHY are you going at this time? and why not later?
-they need to know you non immigrant intent, so obviously u need to have strong ties to your home country. this visa is not only for your cs test appointment, but they give it for your residency interview trips, and then residency training as well. as they know the whole process....
my interview was on 12 th january 2015 and it went like 10 mints.
me: Good morning Sir.
Vo. Good morning.. how are you
me: im fine sir, how are you.
Vo: im fine thankyou, (guided me for finger print)...
VO: Ok, so what is the purpose of your trip to US
me: Sir, Im a doctor. i have to go to to US for my usmle step 2 clinical skills examination. by giving that, i will become ecfmg certified and then i can apply for residency training in US.
(it appeared to me he knew what usmle was)
vo: do u have any appointment or letter?
me: yes sir (gave him CS documents)
looked at appointment letter, and typed...
Vo: ok so how long your residency training going to be?
me: sir, if i get, it will be of 3 years.
vo: ok so what are your plans after you residency training.
me: sir i ll complete my residency and then come back to my home country and start my practice here...
vo: will you not get a job in US after residency
me: Sir, i have my family here and after being american board certified i can have a v successful practice here in ******(my country)
vo: when is your test date:
vo: but, you can give this test anytime..
me: yes sir, i but have to give this test now, because its results take a lot of time and i dont want to delay it anymore..
vo: how long is your stay
me : 9 days
vo: where would you be staying
me ***** hotel i have the booking confirmation with me
vo: you have a friend in *****(another city) why you not giving the test in that city
me: sir when i applied, i didnt get any date there..i only got date in *****(where i applied)
vo: who is this person?
me: .................................................. .(details)
vo: tell me about ur family
vo:have you ever travelled outside of your country?
me: yes sir, ...................
vo: are you married
me: no sir
vo: who is sponsoring ur trip
me: my dad
vo: what does he do
vo: where did u finish your med schoool
vo: and which date
vo: show me your grades?
me... here sir,
kept on looking everything, typed during the whole interview.....returned me my documents,
and then said
your visa is APPROVED.you l get your passport in 2-3 days. i said thankyou very much sir.. have a nice day..
received my passport next day 5 yr multiple.......
got much relieved as i heard ppl not getting it...
but my advice is to b prepared for 2 things..
why now? and why would you return to your country?
all the best!
and please never lie.... MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL
