Passport Does VO know that we have taken the STEPS

Hi!
Does the Visa officer know if someone has taken/applied for the USMLE steps?
Can we apply for a tourist (B1) visa without telling them that we have taken/applied for the USMLE?

you are generally stating to get B1/B2 visa for USMLE CS.

the VISA processing for a young female/male to visit as a tourist(B1) are usually shot down. I don't know the reason why, maybe they think you might not get back to your home country.
when you state your reason for visiting is for USMLE exams, mostly you shall be granted a visa, provided you have the routine workup ready, for an visa interview.

But there is possibility that they(VO) might find out that your visa application facts are bogus (when you state as tourist), when you lie. are you willing to take the risk?

The risks might cost you dearly too.

They usually do not have the time to go and check your USMLE history (though they can if they wish).

However, it's advisable that you tell them the truth. Tell them that you have finished Step 1 and CK exams and you want to go for the CS, provide them with your exam scores. Also you can show them the CS exam application receipt and that you have paid for it.

Most visa officers will grant B1/B2 Visa for applicants to go for the CS exam.

Yes, You can . Some people have done it and got a VISA but few others didn't. Its hard to tell and I guess it depends on the individual VISA officer.
